325d air filter

Looking to replace my cars air filter when it’s getting serviced with a cleanable one

Previously had k&n on my 320d and remember paying about £40 but for my 325d it’s like £75 for the filter

£37 for a simota filter.

Anybody have any experience with the simota or can recommend one?

get a filter that filters,,after market foam ones are not as good at filtering,,a little better at airflow.but these cars do not need it.they are way to efficient to warrant it.filter for my 2 cars are around £13 delivered, dont know how much lci ones are though if thats what you have

There are literally no gains to be had by fitting anything other than an OEM filter. If anything, I've heard of issues with aftermarket filters contaminating the MAF.

Food for thought....

if its the oiled ones yeh,,i have had a pipercross panel in my focus st 2...i cleaned and washed with proper stuff then lightly oiled,,as long as you do not over oil and wipe off any excess..this is how the maf gets soiled/oiled,,not worth the risk,,the filter was already in the car when i bought it..you have to look after them as they go hard and crack and little bits get blown into the systemwhich can also play havoc with maf sensor...bears me how they can charge £70 for a sponge ha ha

I have been using a K&N panel filter in my 335i for over 5 years with no issues, if I remember correctly it cost around £50 including the cleaner/charger kit & I have cleaned & oiled it when it's looked dirty. It's most likely due to be replaced now as I believe K&N recommend replacement every 50k.
I kinda like cleaning the filter & oiling it, it also gives me one more thing I can go of to my garage to do when in need of a bit of 'man time'

Maybe if I go to santapod this year I will take a paper filter with me & do a few runs with each just to see if there's a difference.

ive had foam filters also,,and never hd any probs with them..its just with a derv they are not needed..if i was going petro again with whatever car,,id probably go with a cais system which is better than the car has standard,,my last car focus st,,it was at 302 bhp..but if id gone stage 3/4 then a cais would of been needed..mind you also a lot more money(injectors/turbo etc etc which i thought was too much money for an extra power output of 30-70- bhp depending on what map/components etc..i bought my car as a stage 2 as i knew the first 3k had been spent getting it to that ....did well when i sold it..paid £6350 had it 2 years and sold for £6400 although i did some upgrades costing a few quid..
