It's BMWs terminology for "facelift". Otherwise known as mild mid-model changes to keep the model relevant in the market.

That's what Bmw started using in there newer cars to date. If I'm right they started this back in 2012 it whenever the is came out

The 335i got the facelift on the 2011-2013 models which are 335is coupes anything before that would of had a different cluster. So whoever body components and more.

The is came out in 2011 but if they started this in 2012 it would makes sense since my 335is is a 2011 model

A software update for the DSC may give you the newer look. I don't think the instrument cluster was changed for the 3 yr run of IS's. If you knew the ZB # of your DSC module or could run a UIF of your car with INPA I would be pretty easy to figure out.

For what is worth, my 2011 335is' cluster looks like your second picture. Mine was built around August 2011, you might have an early build?

Mine was built Dec 2010... might be the reason why it looks different but doesn’t make sense an IS cluster should all look the same regardless of the year it’s built in terms of sport mode pls traction control being off and all around.. the one in the first picture looks like a 335i cluster engaged in sport mode with the silver 335is gauges IMO

Yea it’s odd that my cluster looks different when sport mode is engaged, iv seen other 335is 2011 and all the clusters look different then mine , I feel like my cars been tampered with maybe the whole center console has been changed and if it was there might have been a different vin on my car previously, this might be a clear indication it was tampered with besides everything else that was done/ not done lol.

If I'm not mistaken it should be between the brake and engine light. But i can't see any sign of it

Let me let you guys in on a little secret that a few of us in the DCT community have been working on lately. Watch this video, and among other things, pay attention to the cluster. What do the transmission symbols look like? Looks like a M3 to me yet it's still a standard 335is cluster. There's some hardware involved in this (obviously) and it's a work in progress but the dash can be reconfigured with coding, flashing, and VO editing.

I don’t think it matters between Canada and the US because iv every other 335is I’ve seen has the cluster symbols like the second picture except my car.

You’re correct . No sign of it.. could my symbols be from a 335i car and not an IS ? This is what I’m leaning towards... and what did are you talking about beside the acc ? The circle beside the road?

This is interesting but doesn’t explain the background symbols differences between the first picture and second picture
