Stock Height Spring options?

My 328I 13' is fairly dismal in the handling dept. Looking at options, nothing too harsh, but certainly reduce the roll and sway. Curious what spring options are available which are stiffer than stock, stock height, yet not too jarring. Thanks

Have you considered a firmer shock? I believe that would have good influence to 'initial turn in' body pitch. Will also keep you at stock height.

I would search for a few threads on Bilstein B6, B8, or Koni yellows.

+1, he'll want bilstein b6 or koni orange, as they are for stock spring height.

if you change to stiffer springs imo you'll need to change to stiffer dampers as well. with stiffer springs and stock dampers, i suspect the ride will be bouncy and jarring as you're basically reducing what the damper does.

What's your budget for the suspension upgrade?

Same situation here. Going with B6 for sure and possibly fresh stock springs or sport springs. Trying to stay as close to stock ride height as possible. Maybe loose a few mm if necessary.

When we say dampers are we talking about the cast aluminum pieces with three bolts on it in the pics below? I thought those were the mounts. My car does not have electronic dampening.

What about upgraded trailing arms / toe rods / solid subframe bushings?

My last car had all of those upgrades with larger rear sway bar and STOCK springs/shocks and was on absolute rails around the corners. Not sure if those upgrades would be much improvement for this suspension set up?

My parts budget for suspension upgrades is about $1500 right now. Trying to figure out exactly what I need before buying anything.

More pics. It is downright shocking how small the sway bars are. And also the use of plastic parts?

What dynamic aspects to you want to improve most? (brake dive? Mid-corner steering/throttle adjustment behavior, etc.). This should dictate which parts you tackle first, otherwise it can be easy to ruin ride quality without a clear target (I've done it before on my other cars...not a good feeling after spending $$$). Unless you frequently, competitively track or auto-x your car, I wouldn't bother w/ harder bushings or lighter ctrl arms right off the bat (unless you truly prefer this in a street car).

I typically suggest staring w/ basic parts that can be easily incorporated with more details mods down the road (good tires, then shocks/dampers for example). From there, sample and tune to taste w/ more detailed parts (good camber/toe adj, specific rate springs, lighter wheels, etc. assuming canyon carving and track times are what you're after).

I agree with the previous suggestion. Springs / shocks / tires represent the biggest contributors to suspension behavior under normal driving conditions.

Adjustable coilovers will provide the most flexible range of tuning the suspension while providing matched shocks and springs by design. $1500 is almost enough to buy KW Street Comfort coilovers but installation is extra.

My main goal is to have a much more firm, less bouncy feel to my ride. Significant reduction in body roll is necessary.

No track days in my future by A LOT of mountainous, hilly, twisty terrain. I like the car to feel like it is on rails. Best way I can describe what Im looking for.

Already rolling on some of the best rubber money can buy with only 5k on them so that is not as issue.

Real life example: Ripping home from Tahoe... lots of turns and elevation change... was having a bit of fun with a 128 and when he took off there was no way I could keep up without killing myself. Appeared to be bone stock. Tried for a bit but gave up quick. Dont get me wrong, I am far from a street racer but this is a perfect example where the base F30 suspension showed its true color. Brown.

Thanks, I am going to order a set of Bilstein B6 front/rear. Then decide if I want to go with larger sway bars. Checking on prices today. Hopefully I will receive them to tackle this next weekend.
