blackline taillights
I got a call the other day from my CA at the dealership. He informed me that the Blackline taillights have been DOT approved. So, they are legal. Its gonna be the first mod I do to my car.

If any one here can tell me where I might be able to get the Smoked Colored Blacklines let me know. I have a set of Blacklines but they are the ones that completely clear.
Any trades??

I'm almost completely sure there isn't a "smoked" version. Pictures taken with a flash look completely different than pictures taken with environment lighting. The flash makes them look smoked. There seems to be only one type of "Black-line Heckleuchten" on the catalog with no mention of "smoked"...but, I could be wrong. Also, I thought blacklines WERE already DOT certified. I know mine came with the DOT cert number right on the molding. Maybe others can verify? My theory is that they were waiting on the solder point attached bulb mount to be changed to the proper bulb mount so that the U.S. market doesn't get a shabby-looking product.
Oh, and dealers seem to know just of the existence of alternate tail lights, but not much beyond that (at least, the two dealers I checked with locally when I was shopping for mine a couple months ago). Any thoughts? Pics: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12920 Solder point: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12922

No offence to anyone who has them or who likes them, but I don't like blackline tail-lights. I'm not sure why. I think its that I usually see this kind of stuff on old civics and such with badly aligned body panels and add ons. So in my head I associate blacklines with cars that are falling apart.

No offense taken, man. Everyone has a right to opine. For me it's about a few things, actually.
-Yellow blinkers are more European, sportier, and safer. -Conversely, red blinkers are more American, less sporty, and less visible. -For me, there is an innate negativity that comes with red blinkers that I refuse to propagate. -Blacklines are unique, easily distinguishable, and make my car different than 95% of the E90s out there, purchased by people who don't give their car a second thought. I like this effect. -They look awesome with the OEM spoiler on my SG in the sunlight. I think that's it. OH, and they make my car go faster. P.S. When I park next to another E90, they especially look good. The standard red lights don't look bad, though. I like them too. It's just that the blacklines are agressive and badas*.

I'm starting to feel stupid here. To be honest with you, I did not even open them up to check. Just pulled them out to take a picture and put them back. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14325

I have seen a black E90 with the blacklines, pretty subtle , and matches well with the 'mood' and not a bit of exeggerated. I assure you wont find your E90 turns into a mod Civic.
