2nd car insurance
Hello all, im after some advice and hoping you homosapiens can help
im thinking of getting a 2nd car for myself, an E36 convertible, which I would like to park on the road outside my home. Would I need to insure the car to be parked on the road, even though I will not drive it all the time? Im thinking of getting 1 day insurance every time i will drive the car which is like once a month or so |

It also needs to be insured in case it gets nicked or burnt out - or do you consider it of so little value that it doesnt matter?
but as already stated, if on a public highway it has to be insured and taxed and MoTd |

Download the app 'Cuvva' - you can buy insurance by the hour and day.
The app also has a subscription insurance to keep the minimum required to keep you legal - exactly for the circumstance you mention, for keeping on the road but not driving.

The main issue with second car insurance is that you can’t use the no claims from your first car. However there are companies / underwriters who will ‘mirror’ the NCB you have accrued elsewhere.

LV offered mirrored NCB discount when I decided to hang on to my 'old' car last year.
Although I still thought it odd that the insurance for a 5k car could be so similar to a 50k car. |

Don't try and work insurance out .. a few years ago I run a quote on a new F30 335i .. it came out as less than an old E90 320d!
