Crazy diesel prices! – How much will a 335d remap improve economy?
I have read loads of posts regards remapping and to date never really felt the need for more performance than the standard 286bhp that the 335d gives as standard.
However, with diesel reaching the insane levels of upwards of 1.30p a litre and going ever skywards, the fuel economy benefits I read about by remapping has given me a whole new interest in the subject. I’m currently getting around 35-36mpg on average, BUT, would be very interested to know what average mileage is likely to be achieved with a remap on my 335d?? Obviously there are the usual concerns e.g. insurance companies, manufacturers warrantee invalidation etc… LRS

Simple answer, not enough to justify it on better fuel ecomomy alone. I have had a two diesels done and they both improved by around 2-3mpg in typical useage. Diesel will probably be £1.50+ per litre by the end of the year so it is insignificant in your calculations me thinks. Concerning insurance, always inform your insurer of mods, it doesnt cost much extra and if you dont and then later claim still pretending nothing has been done you are knowingly committing fraud no matter how you try and justify it to yourself. Same goes for the OE manufacturer although they will try and blame your mods for an unrelated failure if they can get away with it but thats the game you open yourself up for. Honesty is always the best policy but sometimes it costs. So be it. Yves |

better mpg if you drive steady, but so tempting to put your foot down more...resulting in worse mpg worth every penny though!

I still class the 335d as one of the best cars I've owned. Go for it is my advice. |

Thanks all
I think I'll wait regards the remap as the mpg increase cannot yet justify the cost benefit price of the remap itself. However, if the fuel prices go much higher the 335d Coupe will have to be replaced by one of these! Top speed of 50 mph! Upgradeable to hi-performance li-ion batteries! Boost mode for 40% extra power! Watch out Carlos!
