Exterior Damage?

Hey guys , im wondering if BMW sells the front/rear bumper painted . Can someone buy a bumper , with a paint on it from the factory? Instead of buying a new bumper with no paint and paint it then which that , it wont be 100% like the factory one .

Nope, they do not sell them pre painted. Volvo is the only company that does that.

Sure thing, and truthfully if you look close enough the bumpers are probably slightly off from the fenders and quarters straight from the factory. Most people can't tell (I run a bodyshop so I can). When the factory paints a car they don't do it specifically with the bumpers that are on your car. First they paint the car and then grab a bumper that has already been painted off a rack and put it on the car. It is close but not 100%. Also paint lays and cures differently on metal as opposed to plastic. When we paint a bumper at our shop we typically blend the fenders or quarters to help make the color match better. Hope this helps.

If you take it to a BMW certified shop, it will be easy to match.

If you live in the US that's a great option, but OP lives in Cyprus so I doubt he'd want to go that route since the shipping charges are over $1000

Actually paint matching a new bumper might come out better than a factory one.

If he's that good he'll mix it perfect. Have him spray a test piece and let it dry until he gets it right... Before he paints your bumper!

Just have him match your gas door!

It's actually not US-spec - it's a Euro front bumper - but I didn't know there'd be nasty shipping charges for you. Not even sure if that's a good price - just knew it was an option.

Bumper as an outsourced part comes to BMW factory pre-painted.

BMW only paints steel parts in house.

Plastic painting and steel painting require different process and have different outcome. It's a painstaking job to match it 100%. BMW cannot do it for millions of cars shipped every year.

Sixth generation Camaro owners can tell.. and every one of them INSISTS that on their car.. the paint on the metal and plastic parts matched EXACTLY before whatever loss that they sustained and repairs were completed. Then they end up demanding that their entire car be repainted so it is the same color..
