Modern day travel prep issues

I was going through bits and pieces today getting ready for a trip.

It amazes me the crap we need to charge up.

Ipad
Kindle
Toothbrush
Mobile phone
Bluetooth headphones
Bluetooth Speaker
Battery pack (emergency top ups for the above)

Yes I know I could do kindle on iPad or mobile etc.

However the kindle last far longer on 1 charge and means I can keep other for main jobs.

Originally, it would be making sure I had a paperback, batteries for Walkman and a boogiebox with its 8 batteries lol.

I wonder what of the things we take for granted will be the next thing that will be on the charging list.

Top man always thinking ahead. Assume Duracell so you get some use out of it?

Exactly why I've always stuck to my corded earphones and don't take my electric toothbrush with me. I see that as a very tiny win Plus, the iPad Pro has phenomenal speakers so the BT one isn't required 90% of the time.

I recently went away for a week long work meeting, after which my wife joined me for the weekend. Since it was Prague (and cold), I had a mix of casual and smart work clothes, casual and smart evening clothes, warm clothes/thick coat for the weekend, formal shoes, casual shoes and walking boots. It properly pissed me off that I needed a massive case - I just don't do that

My electric toothbrush can go several weeks between charges, so that's one less to worry about if you change it.

Biggest issue for me is having enough adapters, especially the stupid shaped Swiss ones. A lot more hotels are now providing USB chargers, which is a massive help.

I bought one of these years ago. Great but of kit - especially for travelling! Only one foreign plug required!

Would recommend.

Completely agree. Lots of (integral) battery devices, some of which have short operation time (phones; iPads; travel speaker).

Adapters, chargers and battery backups (especially if camping) all essential. Or digital detox

God clothes, that's another story.

Smart work wear required during the day.

2 nights smart evening wear, 2 nights casual, gym kit, then clothes for travelling in, shoes x 2 and trainers, jacket, waterproof jacket it's all crazy.

Yep, I'm off to NYC in a week, flying with Thomas Cook on the airtanker, no seat back IFE, so I've had to buy a stand alone iPad / iPhone charger so I have enough battery for the flight.

Should stop being tight and fly with a decent carrier.

I get near enough free travel with Emirates and not used any of it yet, I go with the times that suit.

I fly Ryanair / EasyJet 5 - 7 times a year, it's a glorified bus regardless, I'm not a snob.

I get using budget airlines up to 3 hours but NYC is long haul so to have no movies etc unless you bring your own is poor.

If it makes you feel any better I've just weighed my suitcases for my return trip from the US - 94 kg so far and maybe more to come!

You could always pay for a ticket for your travelling companion rather than shoving them in the hold - that's worse than the Thomas Cook flight

The weight is largely made up of a disk brake conversion kit for a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
