Engine Tuning... Cheating Devices?

This includes details in regards to the clampdown on the modified and specialist vehicle sector, which has long thrived in the UK,....
I haven't found the specific government documents (yet), but looks like tuning devices which don't comply with the relevant emissions standards are coming under scrutiny...

Another easy way for the government to raise money by jumping on the VW bandwagon

I wonder if DTUK, Bluespark tuning boxes will be effected?

So if BMW have also been cheating they would have to buy back my car.

That's one way to avoid depreciation.

They are probably busy nailing bits of crooked wood against all the doors and burning files in anticipation of Trading Standards turning up....

Would this not apply to remaps as well? If that changes the stock co2 output of the car?

As long as your car passes the new stricter MOT emissions tests that are coming in soon I don't think they can do much about remaps.

Remove before testing? Or at least knock it down to 'Eco' mode. They tend to improve mpg so this would surely make them more efficient thus lower emissions? I would guess most modern diesels with fully working DPFs shouldnt be affected.

Or you could just use the argument that the government had a hand in ignoring the issue and were complicit in the first place so fuck em.

My thoughts are the government actively pushed diesels, gave huge concessions and pretty much made me buy a diesel. I can only do my homework based on their official findings and advice. So 'fuck em' still applies. And yes, I care about the environment. I killed a cow the other day and its arse produced more emissions than my diesel would do in a lifetime...
