Car brokers?

Hi

Looking to upgrade the wifes car in the near future and have specced up a Fiesta. I have seen the various posts about the best places to buy a new car and the likely discounts, but don't know much about the Broker route to buying one.

I noticed that someone mentioned http://www.broker4cars.co.uk recently but don't know anything about them.

The car that I am looking at is a Fiesta 1.0 (99) Titanium, 3 door manual, petrol.

Went into a local dealer today, mentioned the broker price and he nearly wet himself and insisted on going onto the 'net himself to check the prices. According to him, his boss said that these cars are probably pre-registered.

I am also wary about paying deposits to a 3rd party.

Any thoughts?

Stick to something like Drive the Deal or Carwow to give a good idea of achievable discounts. Then if your don't want to order from some of these try a few local dealers, you will get all the scare stories and blatant lies but ignore all that and if they don't want to play ball move on to the next.

Also consider leasing for cars of that type, there are many many good deals on all sorts of cars that opens up options.

Do you pay a deposit to a 3rd party or direct to a dealer though? I'd assume the latter.

I got my 335d from brokers4cars last year & although I was slightly sceptical prior to ordering, I found them knowledgeable and the whole process really good. The car was not preregistered and I collected the car from the supplying dealer.

Garage List
1st port of call, go for carwow as it is direct with dealer but probably won't get as good a deal, but definitely worth a try

Did you pay a deposit? Was there any risk in the process?

Just gone onto carwow and they seem quite expensive. The spec I am looking for came up at c£16.5k.

Broker 4 cars came out at £13.2k and the dealer i went in today would do £15k.

Try coast 2 coast. Very friendly and transparent to deal with. They will put you in touch with the supplying (main) dealer to get a finance quote and ask any specific questions so you know who you are dealing with. Deposit and all payments are to the supplying dealer, you simply pay a referral commission directly to c2c after you've placed your order.

http://www.priestsford.co.uk

For a Ford I can recommend this dealer. A small independent that is family run in Bucks. They have a price match promise, it's mentioned on their homepage We've had three cars from them and they've always matched the best price I could find online.

Thanks for that as well. Worth a go, so I will contact them later.

drive the deal are brilliant. Once you have ordered via them, all the rest is done via a main dealer. I have bought two VWs via this route.

Yes, I did pay a deposit. I stuck it on my credit card, which as it was over £1000 took an risk element away.

I priced a Fiesta for my mum when she was deciding on a new car. Very expensive for what you get.

She really liked the Hi-Up; order placed with a nice spec at £13.5K.

if you treat Carwow as the starting offer and go from there you can't go far wrong I find

last 3 cars I have bought that way after getting the "best" deal from the site anonymously and then taking that to the dealers who know me and start negotiating

got an extra 1.5% off the best price offered by another dealer who didn't know me for a 23% discount on a factory ordered Q5 for my wife and got 22% off my current car and still got the 0% deal (although had to get a car in UK stock, but there was plenty of choice and I got 1 more extra than I was looking for if ordering ) and did almost as well on my M135i before that

the brokers are doing the same thing really, and because they arrange a lot of deals can get great prices. but I've seen with some effort anyone can get really very close and even beat the best advertised prices and it keeps that relationship going with the dealers - they know what I like and that I keep coming back if I feel I have done well

I'm not sure how relevant it is but we ran a Fiesta ST-3 from Jan 16 to Nov 17 at trade in and went from £17,350 to £11,900 after 11,500 miles.

Hopefully it gives an idea of the depreciation you'll endure.

It's well worth going for a desirable model if you're keeping it longer as it'll likely sell privately for better money.

We got our dealer to match the best Car Wow offer which was close enough.

Have you considered a Focus and leasing.

Got an email today from Central Leasing UK for a nice spec Focus ST Line X something with 140 bhp petrol
engine. Metallic paint and nav included.

Deposit 2400 then 108 per month for 23 months 8k miles per year. Total of less than 5k for two years. If you are buying new and not keeping too long this seems to beat buying yourself.
