So slow......

My 435d is 3 years old in 2 weeks, so I thought I'd have a look round as to whats about as I could do with a 5 door now to cart grand kids and older parents about now and again.
Almost went with a 435d GC but the one I liked was in N.I. and I couldn't bring myself to spend £42k without seeing it, plus I'm thinking new car, maybe it should be something different.
So, it got me thinking, what else?
Tried a few of the new compact SUV's (certainly different) but blimey, do they feel slow.
Not sure I could do 4 years in one of them.
The point I'm really making is, you don't realise how you get used to how quick a 35d is, until you start trying 2.0d's.
Always thought I'd never gelled with it but now I'm thinking of changing, I now know how much I enjoy it.
Perhaps a 435d GC is the way to go.
I might have to try a M140i as a petrol alternative but not sure if the interior will feel a bit of a backward step.
Trouble is I prefer diesels ( yes, i did say it ).

Presume the compact SUVs were 2.0d? Audi do the Q5 as a 3.0 diesel or indeed a 3.0 petrol.... BMW do X3 as a 3 litre in both fuels, you can get a GLC as a 3.0 diesel or petrol...

Slightly higher price point than 42k although you will get the Merc diesel for that...

Your not alone, me too. Test drove x40i and just didn't like it. Too much noise and felt slow!

I found going from F31 to F20 that the interior difference is next to f all.

They are fairly similar, with the 3/4 you have the individual options which really elevate it over the 1/2.

I got a 435d GC for less than you were looking at, on PCP after the mighty dealer discounts (nearly 10k!)...maybe that's an option?

There's always a 3 GT :]

Garage List
2015 BMW 435d  [0.00]
2009 335i  [0.00]
1 series 2 series and 4 series interior are nigh on identical. The 1&2 have slightly less well finished door bin edges and the sun blind is a touch thinner. But no way are they night and day.

If you were looking at a car in NI there is a salesman on here who works in one of the dealerships here. If it’s his place I’m sure he can give you an honest opinion.

I quite fancy a 435d gc with a few options but thought it was probably a little out of range. What sort of pcp deal are we talking about?
450 £500/m.

I put in a very large deposit, which I now think was an absolutely stupid thing to do, but means my monthlies are very low. But after fiddling about in a spreadsheet my monthly would have been about 500-600 (factoring in interest too, sadly I missed 0%), so perhaps not that great in retrospect.

Tried carwow.com?

Seems like a good way to get an idea quickly without doing the hard work yourself.

You are looking at about £500pm with a £500 deposit for a pretty well spec'ed up car. Discounts of around £11k and 1.9% apr.
