Pot Hole Epidemic
Over the last week I have been working in Warwick, not a bad 50 minute commute from Wolverhampton.
M6 Toll - A446 - A452 - A4177 During the week I have pretty much watched pot holes develop and grow. The most remarkable was on A452 (Kennilworth Rd) at Balsal Common. Luckily a bloke in his car spotted it and parked in front of it with hazards on and called council / police. It was more of a 1 foot diameter subsidence rather than a big standard pot hole. (The White Horse is just down from it, so was chatting about it yesterday). As mentioned on another thread, the M6 going north to Manchester through the roadworks is simply dreadful. We have a back road now that we cannot use once it gets dark as so many pot holes. When will this epidemic be properly dealt with. It's not just traffic volume, it's also poorly patched / bodged repairs. |

I've had 3 tyre wall bulges thanks to potholes over my 3 years with BMW and runcraps! Tried to claim against both Rochdale and Bury MBCs, both with photographic evidence - and both rejected as they said it was either within acceptable limits of size or depth. Pictures were taken in the daylight with a ruler in one instance to show extent. Suppose I was lucky it was 3 x £160 and not more as the wheel and suspension were undamaged as all 3 were in 30 mph zones.
Had many other near misses where either I've swerved to avoid or somehow they haven't caused any obvious damage. Totally ruins any enjoyment in driving (not to mention is incredibly dangerous) as you spend the whole time concentrating on a few metres in front of your bonnet and not the road ahead. As for trying to dodge them either at night or in rain, it's just pot (hole) luck! |

Think it's bad in a car, try cycling in the dark chain ganging it around Shropshire.
Tyre, wheel and rider killers everywhere at the mo. Spring cannot come soon enough! |

And folk wonder why SUVs are so popular... at least you've got some sidewall to help out!
I'm sure once they start a little, then they quickly get much bigger, especially with freeze/thaw cycle and water in cracks that appear. It's always like this as you get through the winter.
