Adding a sub

Evening all. I have an E91 with HiFi (676) system that I've upgraded with a JL XD600/6v2 running fronts, rears & underseats (using a Technic harness).

I'm thinking of adding a sub in the boot - is it possible to run the sub off the same amp?

Your best bet is to drop TechnicPNP an email.

But I don't see why you couldn't tap woofer signals on the harness and then into a LOC.

You'll probably need a second amp?

Thanks for replying.

Had chance to have a bit more of a look in to it & contacted TechnicPNP as well. He said to just take a feed from either the front or rear signals coming from the headunit (same signal).

I will need another amp although originally I was hoping to somehow just use the existing XD600/6v2 - only way to do this I think would be to disconnect the underseats so I've got hold of a XD300/1v2 to power the sub.

The only problem I now have is where to put the sub! I wanted to put it under the floor but then realised last night that I have the shallow underfloor trim (I assume) because of the twin exhausts on the 335. Looking at side mount behind the right wheel arch or possibly a very shallow mount sub (eg JL 13TW5v2-4).

I'm glad you mentioned Visual Ice - found him on FB & saw he'd already done some E90/1 stuff. He's going to take a look at the side mount but also under the floor with a slim mount sub, although I don't think the volume is there even if the sub will physically fit.

I have been speaking with Visual Ice too, regarding a Sub enclosure, hopefully ordering next week.

I ordered one of the generic ones from Ebay and it didn't fit properly and was the wrong colour, it got sent back quite quickly!

My setup is base audio, so I have a little coding to do first.

Planning on a full audio haul myself

That eBay one looks terrible!

I don't envy you having to deal with base audio, so glad mine came with HiFi!

I've done all mine myself so far. I can highly recommend the MB Quart 200.3 direct fit kit coupled with a JL XD600/6v2; sounds leagues ahead of what was in mine as standard.

Guys

I may have a visual ice enclosure for sale soon. It has a 12" JL Audio 300W speaker already installed with a proper JL grille. I also have a perfectly matching 300W RMS Kenwood amp.

Thing is, I've not actually determined if I'm selling it yet or not, but I thought I'd give you a heads up. If I sell my E90 soon it's all up for grabs. But I thought I'd mention it before you invest in all-new kit. Depends how much of a hurry you are in to get your subs installed!!

As well as that, I have the Technic PNP harness and LOC for the HK system (which probably isn't of any interest to you if you haven't got HK speakers).

I recently got an e90 325i with logic7 and am thinking of adding a sub. I already have a jl audio mono amp and 12" in a sealed enclosure but probably want one of the visual ice corner enclosures and will need the technic harness with loc. Did you sell yours @texasjohn or still thinking about selling the car?
