Thumbs up Dinan 335i vs. Stock M3 Shootout Video

Hey guys, this video comparing a Dinan tuned 335i vs. a stock m3 just got posted on WebRidesTV.com

http://www.webridestv.com/showvideo.aspx?video=79736

Looks like a pretty close matchup... Aside from the aesthetics, I don't see a whole lot of reason to go m3 when its so easy to get this kind of performance out of a 335i...

VERY NICE production quality on the video. That dealer markup though, not really applicable except maybe the first few that hit the showroom floors.

Excellent review...I'm surprised they didn't mention overheating issues with the 3. But 460 lb ft torque twin turbo must be a revelation to drive..

Good video....dont agree with the dealer markup and I question the price for upgrades. That particular Dinan 335i has the tune, oil cooler, exhuast, suspension, BBK....but it also has Dinan lightweight wheels and performance tires.

Though, the Dinan did hold its own against a stock M3.... but stock vs. modded tends to get old especially when the price of the Dinan is quite expensive.....

I wonder if BMW thought to themselves "Oops"

The Dinan performed very well. Was that with the entire $15k package(approx)?

Loved the video. Is that on TV or just an internet show?

Yeah it was the whole $15k package. Still its amazing that with $15k extra it was still cheaper than the M3 (not including dealer markup).

It's just an internet show, but you can also subscribe to it on itunes or just watch them on that website. Disclaimer: I do work at webridestv...

Very nicely done, but i Think it was a bit biased... "m3 keep your lunch money for gas" - I guess he forgot to mention that the MPG rating is the same when you add the Dinan mods... I'd still go the M3 route hands down...

if you have automatic trans, sport package, and premium package, you bring it to the dealership n file a concern about overheating. YOu go home and called bmwna. you can bitch at them about overheating. they will give u one. that is waht i did on my replacement car without oil cooler.

I think that's the greatest e90post post i've ever woken up to.

With that said, I wish I knew what tires they used, and I wish they'd used someones car with PSS9s, V2/3s, or DAs. But that was pretty amazing. .4 second difference around the track? Woo!

yes but m3 is like a symbol to all driving enthusiasts, it's not all about power....... For example, you see an M3 and go shit look theres an M3 wow. on the other hand if you see a 335i and really it's just a normal 3. not that it isnt nice, dont get me wrong here (or fast for that matter) it's just the way you feel about it. the M3 oozes race blood all around, and the 335i even with all the frilly bits and tuning and all doesnt, just the extra strain you put on the car will make it less reliable. Just my 2 cents.......... no offence intended to all those shit hot 335i's out there.

I think the opposite. Why would you spend that money tuning to have still less refined and slower car?

I don't know anyone that paid mark-up on a M3. Next year no one will pay mark-up.

So if you spend $14,000 on a no-option 335i coupe. Car is still slower less refined.

335i coupe msrp $41,800 + $14,000 = $55,800

then no-option M3 coupe.

M3 coupe msrp $56,500

M3 is the clear winner. Especially when you look at the M3 sedan $53,800 msrp.

Just look at the reaction of the test driver when finishing the M3 laps compared to the Dinan 335i.

He has a huge smile on his face, bangs the steering wheel and says "sold!".

This is pretty close to an American Top Gear.

Awesome quality video, and a very enjoyable review!

Have you actually tried to buy an M3? Go to any dealer and just try buying an m3 for $56k out the door... It's just not gonna happen.

Besides that - keep in mind we are comparing a Dinan 335i to an M3. Dinan has got to be one of the most expensive tuners for BMW. You could probably piece together a better performing 335i for much less cash.
