Tesla Disco Light Show

I wasn't even aware Tesla had this feature, undoubtedly head-turning and unique!

Whats your thoughts?

Maybe Tesla should concentrate on trying to actually build the model 3 before they run out of money rather than crap like this.

This is much more interesting, even the non-performance Model 3 can hit 60 in the same time as a E90 M3. I cannot wait to see what the AWD performance version can do.

Might even be tempted to swap our X for one......No I've never made our X 'dance'

Would this be the model 3 that was supposedly going to be shipping 5,000 cars a week by now, but they've only built a few hundred, virtually all of which are being used by Tesla employees as they haven't done any prototyping quality control ?

Just asking, you know ...

According to Autocar this week Tesla are having massive problems ramping up production of the model 3 and there is a strong possibility Tesla will run out of cash by July.

Good luck seeing your model 3 anyone who has stumped up a deposit.

The big problem facing them, or rather the huge problem facing them are the proper car manufacturers, those that actually respect workers rights and stuff.

Apparently it's not all roses working for Tesla lawsuits, unsafe working conditions etc.

I like Tesla's, but their boss is a total penis, he really is, and that light show was his way of trying to get a woman to sleep with him.

Predictions of Tesla running out of cash is about as newsworthy as paint drying. I belive pretty much since 2010 every day there is someone predicting Tesla will die. My biggest regret is not getting some Tesla shares back than.

The Model 3 is a certainty, only question is if I can persuade my wife she needs to splash out on the AWD performances version (the Model 3 will be her car). If not I might have to swap my X for one.

If you took the rose-tinted glasses off, you might have a slightly different view.

But you're a Tesla/Musk fanboy. Not a chance in hell of that happening.

Those gull wing doors are pretty stupid too. Easily could have side swiped a car as they opened, or worse - that cyclist!

New Audi A7 does quite a nice light bar dance upon locking and unlocking too. Quite Knight Riser esque

If it had taken out the cyclist, that would have made quite an interesting insurance claim! The gull wing doors are a complete gimmick in any case - pointless 'look at me' gear which are functionally worse than a traditional car door. I assume this dance is intended for the showroom, to distract customers from the price!

I have to say though, that I have noticed an improvement in build quality over the last few years from Tesla. I drove a Model S three years ago, and it felt like a Mondeo but at four times the price. I drop into a Tesla showroom every year or so and I have been quite impressed on the last couple of occasions.

Debate on Tesla tends to be very polarised - people who think it will certainly fail, and those who think it will take over the world. I view it as a fairly high risk company, but one which is still more likely than not to be here in a few years. There must be a reasonable chance of failure - at a guess 30% in that time. More likely is that as battery tech gets cheaper, every car manufacturer will offer a range of EVs, and Tesla will just be one of 20 manufacturers competing with each other on price and they will need a more grown-up approach than Musk can offer.

It's when you look at the money companies such as Ford and VW are putting in to it that will put the writing on the wall for Tesla, they will be a niche car for the 'oh but I went for a Tesla' crowd, whereas the general population will be voting with brands they have know for years.

I know Tesla can always raise more money on the markets and I'm sure your wife will eventually see her Model 3, possibly by 2035.

I think (and I don't claim to be an expert) that Tesla had 12-18 months to get the Model 3 out in the market in significant numbers and dominate the market. All the while they struggle, BMW, Merc, Audi, Porsche etc are getting closer to their own pure electric models. Whilst Americans may be more open to new brands (e.g. Lexus, Infiniti) the European market has shown that we like to stick to our known brands. I just think that given the option of a Tesla or an electric 3 series or C class with equal performance, then most people will chose the BMW or Merc.
