Question Dark blue M5's

Hi All

I have been looking for a few months now as I want to get a 2015/6 M5, but I am after either Tanzanite or Imperial blue, they are pretty rare, do you know why this is?

Thanks

Fairly simple in that they were not offered in Imperial Blue and Tanzanite was £1045 as an individual colour in 15/16

Below is taken from the 15/16 pricing brochure;

Metallic
Available in Black Sapphire, Jatoba, Monte Carlo Blue, Sakhir Orange, Silverstone,
Singapore Grey or Space Grey
met ● Std
Non-metallic
Available in Alpine White
uni ○ £0
BMW Individual
Available in Azurite Black, Champagne Quartz, Citrine Black, Moonstone or Tanzanite Blue
ind ○ £1,045

Agreed but the std colour range was ok so not many folk chose to go for the individual colour option especially on what was a "last of" the F10 variants and instead just accepted the std colours offered

Of the 865 UK RHD cars produced from 1st January 2015, there are:

23 Imperial Blue with interior:
  • 3 x Black
  • 15 x Silverstone 2
  • 2 x Sakhir Orange
  • 1 x Champagne
  • 1 x Silk Grey
  • 1 x Platinum

14 Tanzanite Blue with interior:
  • 2 x Black
  • 8 x Silverstone 2
  • 1 x Champagne
  • 1 x Silk Grey

Just based on exterior colour, your search may take a while for the right car to come up for sale.

If you want to let me know what must have options you need, I'll see if there are any that have those options so you know whether there were ever any produced with those options, or whether you're waiting for a unicorn.

Thanks Paul

Ideally after:
Comp Pack
360 camera
soft close doors
auto boot
HUD
heated steering wheel

May have to be some compromise though.

For cars in Imperial or Tanzanite there is only one car that was built with all of those options.

The attached PDF shows which VINs have which options from your list.

Where there is a registration number listed, it was one on a car I saw for sale at some point, that registration may no longer be on the car.

Wow, great info.

Would you have the same data on Singapore Grey cars... interested in how many came specced with Sakhir Orange interiors, which I think set the car off quite well.

Almost all I looked at whilst buying had a Black interior.

Mine is Singapore with Sakhir interior and I love how it looks. Wife was not convinced until she seen it. In pics it looks a bit in your face but in reality it looks great.

I've only got full data from RHD cars manufactured from 1st December 2013 onwards (around 2,500), but the breakdown of interior colours for Singapore Grey exterior is as follows:

2014 - Total: 64
  • Black: 31
  • Silverstone 2: 21
  • Sakhir Orange: 11
  • Ind. Platinum: 1

2015 - Total: 83
  • Black: 37
  • Silverstone 2: 33
  • Sakhir Orange: 9
  • Full Silverstone 2: 1
  • Ind. Platinum: 1
  • Ind. Silk Grey: 1
  • Ind. Cashmere Beige: 1

2016 - Total: 65
  • Black: 37
  • Silverstone 2: 18
  • Sakhir Orange: 9
  • Ind. Silk Grey: 1

If you want an options list like I did previously, let me know the options you're specifically interested in as, excluding "Individual Manufaktur" options, I've identified 193 different option codes used on the F10 M5!

Are you lucky or what... I just spotted this on AutoTrader and it's the only one with all the options you wanted!

Thanks Paul

I have seen this one and will try and get over to have a look, not really in a position to buy until the end of Feb, so if it is still around I will definitely be interested.

Hey Paul,

Out of curiosity do you know how many RHD F10 M5s were produced in SanMarino Blue?

There were 9 RHD cars built in San Marino Blue.

2 were pre-LCI, 7 UK cars were LCI.

Of the UK LCI cars:
2 have full Silverstone II
2 have Extended Silverstone II
3 have Individual Platinum
Edit: I see you have a SMB CP car - only 3 were CP, 1 with full Silverstone and 2 with Extended Silverstone.

If your VIN ends with a 4, you're quite probably right.

If it ends with a 1, that was built a few days after the photoshoot was published.

85 (out of 5164) RHD cars were Azurite Black with 43 being pre-LCI and 42 being LCI.

RHD covers England (UK), Japan, Australia, China, India, other Oceanic countries etc.

I've only indexed LCI cars, but of those 42 LCI cars, 30 were built for the UK.
