Best Way to Sell a Car

Hi, looking to sell my wife's Qashqai and haven't sold privately for years. What's the best way to do it - Gumtree/eBay/Autotrader??

TIA

Autotrader or Pistonheads, maybe eBay too as that seems to be quite fashionable these days.

In 2016 I sold my e90 privately. Not a single enquiry from autotrader, lots from gumtree - two of whom viewed and made offers.

My car is on autotrader and ebay. I've only had calls from dealers wanting a commission to sell on their forecourt or emails with very low ball offers.
I don't think my car is unreasonably priced as it is the second cheapest of its type.

I would recommend in the following in order:

1. gumtree (it's free)
2. Auto trader (only £60 and sold every car I have advertised on it)
3. Fleebay (lots of hassle and should be your last resort)

If the car is advertised well and is at the correct price it will sell on auto trader with little hassle usually within 2-3 weeks.

Last car I sold was on Autotrader and it went in about 2 weeks. More often than not, I can’t be arsed and trade in. Just makes it so easy.

Sold my car to Arthur at wiselysold.com

Got me a good price and an honest guy to deal with.

Worth a try if you can't sell it privately.

I think the problem is down to risk selling privately on high cars. Though I did sell my 435i via eBay.

Sold every car via autotrader.

Also put it on the forum in the for sale section. You never know!

Depends on the car. Pistonheads by far the best hit rate for petrolhead cars but not a Nissan Quasi [sic]. Autotrader has worked for me but it has always been sloww and depressing. The trouble now is the risk of private + it's not new + "I can get a 67 plate SUV for under £200 a month why should I risk £0000s on an older car?". WBAC valuations are dire but sadly, they're realistic.

AutoTrader works for me. Its worth taking time to really clean the car and take some decent photos, including that of all the document history, spare keys etc

I was lucky the last people who bought my car paid full asking price.

This.

For a regular type car, Autotrader works. Since you've taken the decent photos you may as well throw it on eBay and Gumtree too (eBay is £10-15 for a classified I think).

The Autotrader App is so good now that people can call you when out and about and set up a viewing st short notice - that's how I sold my Mazda before Christmas.

To emphasis - good, high def pictures showing all angles/interior/engine etc is a MUST or you'll get passed over.
