17oem to 18oem to 19inch aftermarket?

hey guys. just need some opinions. I have 161 tires on my 325i, and i have a good deal for 1300 for some 162 wheels with 1000 miles on them. Now i want bigger wheels than the 17 161's, yet I am skeptical about going to 19inch after market wheels due to size, weight (and its effect on ride and performance), and the possbility of getting a flat tire and not having a spare in the trunk. Should I take the 18's cuz of the good deal, and ponder the 19inch aftermarkets? or should I go straight for the 19inch aftermarkets. The price for a 19inch CSL rep package is 1300 which is the same as the 162 offer. do i have anything to worry about with 19's. Keep in mind that if i get 19's im going to have to lower my car too so that will effect ride as well. thanks ya'll.

If you like the look of the 162's, then go with those. I'm not sure what the roads are like where you are, but I'm in Houston and I found the ride a little hard on 19's. I'm now buying 18's for my next set of rims. With that said, many get 19's or even 20's and love them.

Regardless of what rims you get, make sure you invest in some good tires. It's worth every penny. Many folks like the GoodYear F1's. That's what I just ordered.

hmmm...i live in san diego, the roads here are pretty smooth all things considering. abdyel, do you have sport package on yours and if so, do you like the stock ride with your 19's? or is the wheel gap so much you need lowering springs?

Well I used to have sport package with 19" wheels and the ride was ok I had continental tires on and it was a little noisy. the gap was about two fingers too much for me personal opinion so I went ahead and put the H&R sport springs on and I can bearely fit one finger with the 161's. I have the CSL's coming so I couldnt tell you how much of a gap will be but looking at diesel's car I get an I dea on how my set up will look after all.

That's interesting to hear. I also live in Houston and am considering 18's or 19's in the CSL reps. The roads pretty much suck around town, even on the highways. The price is better all around for the 18's and the ride, I would think, would be better but I like the look of the 19's.

I have non sport package but would also add H&R sport springs.

I haven't seen any pics with the 18 inch setup. I've seen plenty with the 19's but would really like to see the 18inch setup.

I'm not one that usually can't make a decision but it's so difficult picking wheels without actually seeing them on your car  especially when you factor in a lowering kit.

yeah basically if you decide to throw on 19's take about 1400-1500 for wheels shipped. Cost of springs 280 shipped. Install 200 ish. 10mm spaces 100 dollars.

For the price of getting 19's = at most 2100 after all is said and done
or i could get 18's 162's for 1300 with run flats.

thoughts..............?

if money is the issue here just go for 162's otherwise at the end of the road I will be happier with the 19" and the drop

why would you spend money keeping the car looking stock or jumping from 325 look to 330 look? it seems to me pointless but well everyone has their opinions and likes

So are you saying after 19" wheels lets say ASA AK1's W/ eagle F1 tires..lowering Kit (H&R spings) and 10mm spacers completely installed is $2100?

Can your BMW Dealer do the install or would you recommend someone else?

well basically around 2100 give or take. since its just springs, spacers (which mount with the tires so its not a big deal at all) and throwing wheels on i dont think a BMW dealership is worth the trouble and the $$$. Probably your local tunner shop can do it. Espec if you go in all at once with everything. For example if you go in one week with springs, and then the other week with wheels and spacers that will cost you for 2 seperate installs. With the spacers and wheels they will prob be nice and just throw them on the car after the springs are installed. killing two birds with one stone is the secret for cheaper add -ons with cars in my opinon.
