UK vs ROW pursuits.
A random selection I know, but certainly appears our police have a different and less successful approach to pursuits.

I think that our police have a greater focus on trying to minimise risk to innocent members of the public whilst in persuit. Whilst we may be less successful at apprehending offenders it would be good to get the full picture and understand collateral damage and injuries to innocent bystanders elsewhere.
What also comes across in that video is how densely populated our little island is. It must be a total nightmare persuing someone in such a built up area. |

That's the thing. In the states they generally have big wide roads and so have the space to tap the back end of a stolen car to cause it to stop/crash. Also once stopped guns are drawn so as to discourage legging it!
You can see why the UK police call off a pursuit when they have a little scroat racing a stolen golf r at 100mph through a housing estate. |

I hate the fact that our police force is shown up like this, by criminal scum.....largely due to cost cutting and staffing levels.
I bet that was a Vauxhall Astra trying a PIT on that Audi A6. Never going to happen. What happened to Volvo T5's? I don't even know what today's equivalent would be, but it certainly isn't an insignia 2.0 Tdi. And yes a densely populated area and yet only one or two cars available to join in. In some little hick town in the US you get 5 or 6 cars available to assist. Talk about watered down beat cops per capita. Shameful. |

I think you will find that the officer will be subject to being prosecuted for dangerous driving should they have an accident.
The police love to do their own for dangerous driving when they are just doing what they are paid to do. Why do you think the moped robberies in London are going unchecked? It is because if the moped crashes, then the officer will be prosecuted and would end up in prison, while the **** (insert your own term there) get away with a slap on their wrist. |
