Police Christmas Spirit!

While making ‘good progress’ on a fairly empty motorway yesterday evening, I noticed a grey F11 following. It then overtook and flashed a SLOW DOWN dot matrix sign at me, which I duly obeyed and continued the journey with some restraint.

I’ll take that as a Christmas gift - they could easily have booked me.

Some of them are decent I suppose, lol.

I had the same thing last week, fully blacked out de-badged Black F31 on the M8 at Erskine bridge. Cut me up then displayed the police sign.

Probably was just too cold or wet for the copper to be bothered getting out of his warm car. Nice escape for you though.

You still could get a letter in the post but I'd like to think they were just warning you - I was similarly let off in central London many years ago with a guilt trip comment about the police not wanting to tell parents on Xmas Eve that their kids were in an accident.

Was a fair comment and I appreciated the way they handled it.

Generally find with the police they’ll show a fair bit of common sense provided you’re not doing anything too silly.

Especially if you’re decent enough to them.

Low 90s on a pretty clear dry stretch. I was driving quite sensibly/considerately in other respects, as I generally do.

I thought that I was safe from a ticket, but perhaps you are right?

I might have been lucky - the few police I have dealt with have been pretty sensible. I would much prefer to be stopped by the real police and have them use their judgement, than have some pie-munching fool in a van speed trap me from half a mile away...

To be fair I had the same thing on the M25 a few months ago. A blacked out A4 pulled in front and flashed his blues followed by Speed Limit is 70mph sign. I wasn't driving erratically and it was relatively quiet.
Good policing in my opinion and I drove with a fair bit restraint the remainder of the way.

They would have dealt with you there and then if they were going to ticket you.

Good news story. Sounds a sensible bit of policing.

Had the same a few months ago on an empty dual carriageway. I was very grateful!

Maybe they were on the way to lock up blokes who seem to think it’s ok to assault their partners or family. That’s all I seemed to have last night.

Still, I hear the tea is ok on Christmas Day in custody😂

Agree, ... if they flash a sign saying slow down it's simply warning.

Any of them sober or were they all under the influence?

Mostly drunk, but it is never a one off unfortunately, always history of it in many forms.
