G30 Screen Mirroring Always On Coding Possible?
Hi all,
I've read a bit about coding and tried browsing some of the free software before buying the cable and messing around with my car (namely looking through BMW Coding Database) and I have a question on the availability of a feature... I currently have in my 2017 G30 the screen mirroring feature on my android phone which works well but when the car is in park of course. There are times where my built in navigation absolutely sucks (whether inefficient routes or getting me to the wrong location) and for those times I'd like to just use Google Maps. Since Android Auto doesn't exist on BMW, I'm wondering if there's a coding feature that allows you to put screen mirroring in always on mode even while driving so I can use Google Maps Navigation those times I can't rely on the iDrive nav. Is that possible? If so, can someone point me in the right direction to find the instructions to code such a feature? Thank you! |

Negative. You need Bimmercode or other commercial solution. E-sys can only unlock to 39 mph.

I got a bunch of software from the instruction guide (E-sys, Psd, etc.) but not sure where to start. Any other guides on the forums you can point me to? Thanks. |

The correct adapter for Bimmercode was very cheap on Amazon. And it worked perfectly to unlock VIM for me.
Having said that, it was the only thing that I found Bimmercode useful for, but for the VIM alone it was worth it. |

Can someone tell me where the odb2 port is? I tried looking under the passenger side footwell area based on a YouTube video and I can't find the same port, I can only find the area to replace fuses. I'm wondering if the YouTube video was for a European model and it's different in the u.s. for some reason. Thanks

Thanks again, everything looks like it worked out. Took some time to get it connected initially but once it connected, coded using BimmerCode (I had a ton of Google Play credit from Opinion Rewards app, so got to use that to unlock the coding feature). I did VIM, changed the ringtone, turned off the warning when you turn on the car.
That said, any other things anyone recommends trying out? |
