LPFP upgrade worth it?
Hey guys, tried doing some searching but couldn't find an answer. So over the last couple weeks I've had my car go into the "engine malfunction mode". Typically, it is right after I start the car. Once or twice it's been after I'm actually on the road. The only code that's showing consistently after it happens is a code 29DC, which through some searching leads me to believe it's the LPFP. I've read that it can also be thrown for the HPFP, but I've never had any long cranks or anything like that, so I'm leaning more towards the low side. So searching around I've seen the factory pumps going for around 200 to up over 300 for a genuine BMW, but then I came across the Fuel It stage 2, the one that is a full drop in high flow replacement, for only around 100 more than I'll probably spend on a factory. To me, it seems like the better option to just spend the extra 100 bucks and get the upgraded part, but for someone with no plans to run e85 (never even seen it in my area :/ ), am I just creating possible headaches for myself with no possible benefit (eg, computer issues, longevity of the upgraded pump, etc)?
Currently running JB4 MAP 5, full catless exhaust to the back, DCI, and a charge pipe w/BOV. After my upcoming deployment I'll be going MHD, adding a front mount, inlets, and getting the head pulled, cleaned, and rebuilt. I'd like upgraded twins to be in the mix later on, but no real immediate plans. Thoughts ??? Input ??? |

Thanks for the BC recommendation! save me some money. So I guess it's just full speed ahead on upgrade then? No chime in on negatives so I assume there's nothing to worry about.

I think you need to change the fuse from 20 amp to 25 amp. Not a negative, but could cause a problem if ignored.

Well looks like I'm gonna go ahead and just get the upgraded pump. Haven't heard of any issues related to them yet so hopefully I'm not the first 😄 |

I had Fuel it on my car and i recommend it to all my customers. I have not encountered a single issue.
I had another brand before fuel it and kept running into problems

Also, Fuel-it's venturi fitting causes low pressure - I was seeing 50s to 60s at idle and 40s during pulls on hybrids with pump gas and DI only (should be 72psi +/- 7). Ditched the venturi with my own DIY stage 3 and all my problems went away. Why do you think they switched to bucketless? I would never buy any fuel-it pump with a venturi. They're all overpriced anyways. |

I was going to diy a 450 into an oem bucket and changed my mind into buying a fuel-it stage 2 because I do not have a lot of time. If there is a down side to the fuel-it product this is the first I have heard of it. I am really curious about this.
