Glow shift Temp guage

So i purchased some glowshift guages a while back and was going to finally connect the oil temp guage. Only to find out that E90's have some retarded design on their oilfilter.

Seems like a regular Oilfilter sandwich wont fit. Would removing the whole unit and just drilling and tapping a 1/8th npt thread work?

Any other suggestions as to how i should go about this issue.

Fingers crossed that some other person on this forum as encountered the same issue.

You don't have an oil temp gauge from the factory?
I thought all E90's had them.

There is a couple different versions out there

I have the L/100KM version

A lot of us got that stupid mpg meter which is useless and just swings back and forth. I think everyone with an N52 sedan got it.
