Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank you for stopping by and reading my review of my very purchase of the Gintani OBD Flash for my 2014 335i xDrive. During this review, I'll give my opinions on the following subjects that I deem important to the entire process:

1. Pre-Purchase questions & support
2. Turn-over time
3. Installation & Support
4. Drive-ability
5. Overall feedback and comments
6. Bonus sound clip

1. Pre-Purchase questions & support
Prior to purchasing this, I contacted a number of other vendors that were offering the same tune. After finding out that morning while I was sitting in bed that OBD2 Flashing for the F series was available, I instantly went onto the forums to start searching for available vendors. After emailing a number of them on the weekend, Gintani was the first vendor to reach back to me in a timely manner. After emails, a phone call then followed and I was directed to Nick. From there, I then proceeded to ask him numerous questions about the tune and within 30 minutes, my payment information was taken and was then charged.

Nick was extremely helpful in everything and even promised me that the tune would be done by the end of the week.

2. Turn-over time & Payments
From the time of the payment, which was on the same day (Monday), the cables were shipped out on the same day and arrived the next day from L.A to Vancouver B.C. With extremely fast shipping, I was able to be directed by Nick to send him my ECU information and from there was the waiting game. Overall, I waited approximately 48 hours before Alex (The Tuner) messaged me saying that my files were completed.

3. Installation & Support
It was around Thursday at 9:30PM where we managed to connect on the phone and he directed me through everything promptly and even insisted to stay on the phone with me as I started the car and drove it. I'd like to extend my greatest appreciation to Alex and his team over at Gintani for being through the roof with customer satisfaction as from what I know, he was at the shop until 9:30PM to continue working on my car, and other cars all at the same time. Installation was extremely easy as there was no hard work to be done. As with technology, a couple of clicks and my car was turned into a mad beast.

4. Drive-ability
This is the fun part. Since my tune was installed rather late, I had the opportunity to drive a bit faster than the usual Joe. The backfires, the insane power gains, the burbles and gunshots, I'm not sure where to start. When it's in comfort, it feels as if I'm driving a stock 335i on every single steroid known to man, but once it's in Sport + Mode, a completely new beast awakens and that's when the entire car's dynamics change. Gunshots occur, backfires happen from 1st gear to 2nd and to 3rd. The insane torque gains gave me tingles in my fingers and it made me feel like a BMW should have come like this from the factory. Rolling against a C450 never felt so easy in my life! Theres power when I need it and it did not compromise the comfort ability and luxury that a 335i has to offer.

5. Overall feedback and comments
Will I come back to Gintani when I move onto bigger and better things? Yes I will. Gintani has offered unparalleled support throughout this entire process and even managed to get my car flashed and ready to drive before some vendors have responded to me. As a person who has already owned 2 Cars at 19, I was always fascinated by what ECU tunes can do a car. Not being able to afford the downtime when DME's had to be unlocked, I was always hesitant to get it done. Now that OBD Flashing is here for the Fx Series, my thought of having to upgrade to a faster car has been crushed by my new love for the 335i.

Although I do not have official dyno numbers for my car, I can absolutely say that my car has made significant gains from the flash that I got. The torque spike was definitely something that I cannot be a bigger fan of.

Nice to hear first hand info of OBD unlocking and tunning!!

Only issue I see, if you want to tweak/update your tune for additional mods or whatever, do you have to pay and wait to have the cables shipped back to you? I assume there is no map switching either?

As for map switching, they gave me 2 maps which were one with normal burble and one with extra burble. Cables were mine to keep if I ever want more maps and they even shipped it for free!

I had the MPPK prior to this and on the site they have you numbers of possible gains.

We talked about this prior to my flash and it should the be an issue as I don't plan on running more than a handful of maps.

I've contacted a number of shops, I'd prefer to give them a bit of privacy since I did contact them and state that some of them didn't offer the best reply times, I'm not here to shame or put down anyone publicly

Not about shaming them. But I want to contact them to see if they do it for n20 located on the other side of the world. Haha
