Tire Advice

I'm trying to decide what tires to get for my new rims and was hoping to get some help.

I'm looking for a tire with the best ride comfort and noise comfort, and good handling. I don't push my car to the limits, so I'm not sure if I really need a Max Performance Summer Tire. I'm in Houston, where there is no snow, but plenty of rain...

I had considered the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S, as well as the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. I know everyone loves the Goodyear tire, but I'm not sure if it's overkill for my needs. I also has lower noise/ride comfort scores in TireRack's tests than the Pirelli and several other tires.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm also going for a staggered set up - 18x8 in front and 18x9 in the rear. Should I go with 235/265 or 245/275?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt, the F1's are GREAT in the wet! Having rubber this good is never overkill! Having really good tires on stock rims is better than okay tires on good/really good rims. I think they are pretty damn quite and comfortable myself! They really are the best tire for the money IMO.

For size, I think you should go for 235's in front and 265's in the rear.

Danny

Thanks Danny... I had pretty much decided on the F1's until I looked at the scores on TireRack. In the tests, they were lower than the Pirelli's.

how many flats can we have in 3 or 4 years? I switch tires in 25.000 km and i dont make bad roads because my car isnt a jeep. I dont expect a flat but if it happens ok 80 km for 200 km its next stop. Then assistance of automobile club. They are very convinced the future is runflats as several brands had already emergency wheel, so i think its inevitable. I like 19 or 20 but the risk is to high and i have 17 on my 320.
