Z4 to Z4M
Hallo i am in a dillema...
My uncle had a 2007 Z4M roadster and his son had an accident and he cannot repair the car... As he will buy a better car but now he wont give it to his son hahha and told me if i want the engine as a gift... What do you say to do the conversion or not.... My engineer has done a lot of conversions from E46 to M3 and all are good what do you think for the Z4... Is there a need to change something to the frame of the car?? Soz for my english....!

I'm sure you won't have a problem as there shell waas not change and you have plenty of room for the S54 engine...goodluck

I don't know what you want us to say? Are you looking for someone to tell you not to do it?
OK, don't do it. But, I think if you give it a shot, and this guy knows what he's doing it'll work. But I also think there may be issues that come up since the parts are coming from a car that was totalled. That being said, if the shop can handle the issues, it might actually work out ok. Make sure you take lots of pics and let us know how it goes.

IMO conversions are done when certain engines are NOT available in certain chassis. The Mcoupe is so much more than just an S54 engine. Just trade up.

What you will need from the donor car, off the top of my head, is the following: - Engine (May bolt up to Z4 tranny) - ECU - light switch - cluster And if the donor tranny is any good: - Transmission - Drive Shaft - Rear differential - Rear wheels (rim/tire)

I'd just part out the totaled car and use the money + your car to get an M.

Well I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone else has a similar idea, to give you an idea as to what might all be involved, here's a write up of a 4 door e46 M conversion. http://e46.mit.edu/
