My 335i creaks like a pirate ship while turning!
Hey all, was wondering if you can help em diagnose an issue I've been having. Only occurs during low speed turning, mostly when reversing or turning into parking spaces. The noise can't really be heard outside of the car but can be heard pretty clearly by everyone inside the car. I'd love to know what's causing it and how I can fix it. I'm guessing it's somewhere along the steering rack.

The general consensus is either something is loose up front(control arm/steering rack/sub frame bolts), worn strut mounts/hats, or worn sway bar end links.

The power steering on these cars do like to 'groan'. It's normal. Make sure your PS fluid has been serviced

I believe that is the sound of the rubber boot of the steering shaft through the firewall. Just needs to be greased.

Check the torque settings on all the nuts on every control arm and strut in the front end. If you still have the creek at low speeds, start with the sway bar bushings & links. If still, replace the control arms & tie rods If still, replace shocks & struts plus surrounding hardware (strut bearings, bump stops, etc....) |

Second that. Mine made a similar noise I changed the top mounts & that cured it as well as making the steering feel smoother.

I had the control arms and bushings upgraded 2 years ago, so that shouldn't be the issue. I've attempted to lubricate the plastic ring underneath the rubber boot, but I probably didn't use the right product. What did you use?

Make sure everything suspension related is torqued at ride height. If you have had any work done on anything suspension related it could be that any number of fasteners were torqued unsprung. Not only will this get noisy, it will destroy bushings in no time.
