Things I love about my e90
As my time with my beautiful e90 comes to a close, I can't help but get a little nostalgic about all the fun times we've shared together and the different phases of life that have come and gone while I've owned it. I bought it a little over four years ago from the original owner and actually sold it once in the middle, only to buy it back about a year later after finding it on Craigslist before the owner moved to Tx. Of course, in the meantime I had another 335. Of all the many cars I've owned including l322 Rovers, a few ZHPs, an 330 swapped e46 wagon, and even an mk4 Supra, I've never liked any car as much as my 335. It's such a subtle car in so many ways but every time I drive something else, I miss it. I remember once last year, my car was in the shop getting the mechatronic sleeve replaced and I was driving my dad's 2011 CTS V around, all the while missing my 10 year old e90 in every way imaginable. That got me thinking about all the little things that don't stand out when I'm driving the car but I've grown to love and miss when I go without them. Here's a random list in no particular order, of the things I love about e90s.
1) Logic 7 - I really really love the factory Logic 7 system in these cars. I had the Logic 7 in my Range Rover from the same year but they just don't compare. The BSW upgrade mine came with may help as well but I always miss the way it sounds in other cars. 2) The HVAC rest function - good gracious, why do not all cars have this? I don't have comfort access but I use this all the time in the winter to keep the car warm while I go into the store, etc. 3) Zero feedback through the aux - All the other cars we have always get some whining, weird noise, interference through the aux cord. My mom's GLK, my range rover did, the CTS V does.. not my e90 though 4) The suspension - I've seen a lot of people complain on these boards that the e90's suspension feels crash-y and rough compared to other cars but I beg to differ. To me, it's always felt way more comfortable and compliant than any of the competition like IS350s, C300s, etc. So much more planted too. 5) The small steering wheel - First thing I fell in love with when I drove an e90 for the first time was the size of the wheel compared to that of an e46. 6) Zero rattles - Dang I love how rattle-free the e90 cabin is. Even lowered ones, like both of mine have been, are dead silent on any type of road. I love it. 7) The beautiful bodylines - I was just admiring it in my garage one time and I love the way the A pillars along the windshield curve in to narrow the roof and curve back out at the C pillar. Just a really sexy looking car. 8) Easy diagnoses - My 335 now sits at 161k miles and has been remarkably dependable. The issues I have encountered, however, were all easily diagnosed and fixed without ever having to chase the problem down. 9) Coding - I can't describe how annoyed I get with cars of other makes *cough Toyota* and how their ECUs are unable to be read by anyone except the dealer. Ever had a TPMS issue in a Toyota? No? Count your blessings. That's it for now! Sadly, I'll be putting her up for sale in the near future as I'm downsizing to prepare for some big life changes but I just can't stop thinking about what a wonderful platform the e90 is. I will definitely own another down the road! We're all a lucky bunch to drive these wonderful cars everyday. |

The e9x is quite a remarkable car to drive. Very few cars at this price point can compare with the same level of performance and refinement. I know I'll be keeping mine for some time for the simple fact that I still enjoy driving it.

I love some of the little things on mine... like:
1. Brake holds when you engage the clutch from a stop on a hill so you don't roll backwards 2. Mirrors auto fold out after you go faster than 20mph 3. Auto dimming side mirrors 4. The ability to adjust cruise up and down precisely |
