The digital instrument cluster is pretty interesting. For example it displays more information than before with miles to empty by the fuel gauge and outside temp by the clock. Also there is a red bar inside the speed gauge that represents the speed limit. Right now I'm on my journey home 500 miles and I'm trying to see what fuel economy I can get so I'm in eco pro mode.
What did you find interesting? |

Has anyone noticed that there is an extra light in the LED headlights that turns on when you are turning in that direction? In previous X3, the fog lamp would turn on when you turned the wheels to that direction, but I noticed that this was not the case with the current X3 and the new LED fog light strips. However, I did notice that it did get brighter when I turned my wheels and upon further inspection, I noticed that the extra light was coming from a light in the LED enclosure. Perhaps they had it this way in other BMW models but I've only owned X3s so I only know that it's new now. lol

Good spot.
Question, are all of the tail lights and turn signals and license plate lights LEDs? |

They are... All is LED including reversing light and fog light. All external lighting all around the car is LED finally.

True which was the most depressive thing ever ... I hated that every new release has 80's bulbs inside and wondered who was the men behind that irrational and stupid decision.

I am confused only because they are not mentioned either on the BMWNA website, nor in the original configuration pricing document. The original BMW videos always used the word "optional" with these features. |

Yes. Through the multitude of videos coming out now on youtube we are getting glimpses of the non exec pak gauge cluster, along with the steering wheel button layouts of non-driver's assist packages. Not a fan of the lessor gauge cluster but think the button layout sans the assist packages is pretty cleanly done. Ironically it is on an M40 that I saw all this.

Random thought: can we swap out the pathway lighting design?
I was reading a bit on it and it appears that they use a light array that is integrated in the sill. I don't know if it's part of the door frame or the undercarriage. It sounds like it may not be as simple as swapping out puddle lights. |

I believe the 3D LED tail lights are standard and the same across the board? |

I haven’t had a ton of experience with it, but it handled curves with clear markings just fine. Supposedly it can lock into the car in front as well if markings are sparse. To be more specific, it handled the curve in this photo at 45mph with no issue, in the dark. Sorry there is no scale but perhaps you get an idea from the cars and buildings. |
