Not what you expected. E90 build thread...
Ahh, an E90 LCI. Looks to be one of those Exclusive Edition SE models. Hmm. Could it be a 318 or a 320?
What's this? Those brakes look to be a bit big. Oh, I see the rear. It makes sense now...

Nice. SEs are so underrated, almost everyone & their dog has a 'sport' or a bastardised SE

Thanks for the offer but I sent the full set back. TBH I think I will stick with 17s for now anyway, it’s actually very comfortable for a 3 series and I don’t think I’d want it any different, although slightly wider track wouldn’t hurt, and perhaps wider rims on the rear axle. In terms of 17s I think I’m going to seek out a set of staggered 286 star spoke or better still 42 styling (Z3 Sport split rims, look a bit like BBS LM). |

The OPs car in that colour with 230s would look sweet.

Twists should fit on the E90. Pretty sure all the E9x have the same wheel specs (I've got 189s on my E90 and they were off a E92)
What size are the standard wheels on this? Are they 17s |

Yes the standard wheels on all UK (and as far as I know, whole of Europe) SE are 17, even the 335s.
The 230s fit, E90-92 are fully interchangeable, but the ride quality would suffer. Although I totally agree it would look marvellous on the 230s. Google E90 on 230s and you'll see a few pics. Or here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=264

My car has non-RFTs. I might try out a set of 19s, need to find a willing donor. I'd be reluctant to purchase them knowing that there is a risk I'd hate the ride quality. Might be perfectly fine on SE suspension, but until I try it out I'll never know!

However having lowered the 35i the ride is a bit harsh, you do feel every bump, I can even feel the slightly raised painted lines that you sometimes find towards the end of some motorway slip roads. It does handle exceptionally well though with very little body roll when pressing on through the twistys & I can take roundabouts at silly speeds & the car feels very planted but now I'm getting on a bit I would trade the looks & improved cornering for a bit of comfort. If your ever in Kent you can try my 19s out.

Thanks. Some distance from me. I spoke to Birds yesterday about the B1 kit. I think I might go for that (or something similar). A lot of 1 series folk have had good results with Koni FSDs.
A diff would be great too, but I guess it's deciding how much you invest in a car that (to trade) is only worth a four figure sum. I like the 'look' of 17s or 18s on the saloon. The 17s in particular do look a bit lost on the rear quarter of the coupe however. There are staggered options for E9x wheels in 17 also, the standard SE fit on the 335i/d coupe for example. Or the 286s https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E...3/201970860692 But I'm leaning towards F10 sets (staggered or square) because there are a lot out there for sale and you get an extra 4mm offset on the 'square' sets which are ET30 compared to our ET34 (in 8J width). Trouble is, most used sets come with tyres that are the wrong size for our cars so it's best to find a set with no tyres or illegal tyres as you need to swap them for the right size anyway. Or you can of course sell the old tyres once removed, if they are any good. I really like the very concave E60 SE LCI 17s; ignore the price as it must be a typo but here's a link to a set... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-B...8/282724550539 but they are quite rare and stick out just a little too far at ET20. It's workable, as M3 winters are ET20 and you see a lot of non-M E9x cars with them. But they are right on the limit.
