Valeo or Denso Heater Core..??

Is there any possible way to identify which heater core is currently in there before ripping the entire dash apart..?? I'd like to get this all done on the same day as my car is my daily driver, but if I have to take apart the dash to see what the brand is, and that'd be a huge delay..

I've called and searched around and everyone asks me which of the two is it, but idk where to find that info out as it doesn't seem VIN specific..

Thanks..

Remove your radio, their will be a sticker on the heater housing..Im 99% I've never seen a Denso heater box in any e9x (they are all valeo) and I've done plenty of evaporator . On a side note you don't have to remove the dash entirely to do just a heater core.. U can sneak it out

When i removed that lower kick panel under the steering wheel to see the hoses, I was also thinking why the whole dash needed to be removed.. it looks like if i remove those two hoses I could possibly slide it out, but I didn't remove those two hoses yet so I wasn't quite sure how much room there'd be to finagle with that thing..

in looking at the video I recorded it looks like there is actually a line (perhaps a/c) that would prohibit me from being able to slide it out...

You can remove the heater core 3 ways IMO

-Remove entire dash, support and blower box (Most labor, and you have to EVAC A/C)
-Remove dash covering leaving box in place and sneak out (My preferred choice)
-Remove steering column and sneak out

I'd love to be able to do it without removing the dash, but even with option #3 in your list with only removing the steering column, wouldn't I still have to evac the a/c as that one line seems to be connected behind the heater core, and appears to curve around it and go towards the back of the vehicle, which would not allow the heater core to slide out sidewards..?

From the other thread I made about the leaking heater core which I'll link below, you can see in one of the images the line i'm referring to.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1438967

I put an arrow pointing to the hard line I'm talking about..

I believe the hose your referring to is an cooling vent line for the CCC/CIC system not an actual A/C hard one..It should be just press fitted on. The hard AC lines are in in the molded plastic above the heater core lines..U can somewhat see in the picture that its routed around the heater box

I actually don't have a navigation dashboard, so perhaps that line is present on all 07+ E9X vehicles..? So theoretically, you're thinking I could just pull it outwards and it would come out of that spot where it's entering that black box?

Ahh, I see.. The metal portion of it going in to that box kind of threw me off lol.. So today after work I'll remove my radio and see what I'm working with back there, although it does seem that Valeo are the most prominent ones installed in there, and than after that I'll comprise a plan to get this damn thing out..!

I did read on the E46 forum, some got theirs out without removing the dash as well, but it seems like they have a bit of a different layout than we do back there.. Figures..

I do appreciate your help btw, seems like you're the only person on here who knows about this specific job lol..

I wouldn't look at E46 any any reference as their completely different layout with everything. No problem, one of the few perks of working at the dealership, I've basically seen it all once at this point haha

Haha yeah I actually didn't intend on looking at any other platforms for assistance, but when I typed "heater core replacement e92" in Google, I found like 1 result, so I started outsourcing out of disparity haha..!

Assuming you remove the steering column completely and willing to break the foam to the right of the column. U can sneak it out..

Hmm, sounds like removing the dash may be a bit lengthier of a process, but helps to avoid breaking stuff lol.. I may try your "preferred method" with leaving the evaporator box in place and sneaking out the core.. In this method, is it simply just the dash being removed, and column being dropped that helps sneak it out..??

If you look at the picture of the heater core being removed there is a block of foam to the left. Well their is a block of foam to the right as well not picture..By design it wont come out with the dash in place unless u break it of its screw..Is it super important, probably not. So that's your call on removing it. But if you do decide to remove the dash cover and sneak it out, then lowering the steering column is all that's needed to sneak it out. I can have the dash off an e90 in an hour so its not a big deal for me, I dont know your comfort level to say one way or another. Its not complicated but you can easily forget things or get wire layout mixed up

Yeah I'm totally all about that DIY life, and I've removed dashes on previous cars for track purposes, or upgrade purposes, so I'm definitely comfortable doing it.. My only issue with tryna get it done as fast as possible is that I don't have a backup vehicle anymore, and I'd hate to not be finished in a weekend's time, and have to uber to work lol..

But yeah I understand what you're saying.. I thought about slowly taking the dash apart over the next 2-3 days so once Saturday morning comes (and my parts arrive) I can just knock out the basics and be done with it..

I'm attaching a picture that pertains to this next question.. In order to sneak the core out, do I have to remove those two vent motors, or can I just remove those two screws I circled in red and remove it that way..?

Thanks again!

Hopefully it's as easy as this guy makes it look to get good enough access to sneak it out haha..

If memory serves me, you gotta remove the the servo motor, and then remove the heater core access door and it should come out.

Which heater core?

I removed radio to see which HVAC sticker was there and it was a Valeo
(Actually Valeo 98285oh). However when I removed driver side access panel, I saw the actual heater core and it says its a Denso on the actual core. Its a 2006 e91.
Based on that, which heater core should I order?
