19x9.5 fitment
Here's yet another fitment question...
19x8.5 ET35 235/35/19 in the front 19x9.5 ET40 265/30/19 in the rear Would they fits a 2018 M240i xDrive with the stock suspension without any significant poking or rubbing? I don't want to change nor drop the suspension as I have a steep driveway and live in an area with pretty bad roads. I don't mind going for a different tire size, but the wheels I like are only offered in those offsets. I did search these forums and I have read too many conflicting answers. Thanks! |

BMW's own retro-fit 19" wheels only come in 7.5Jx19 front and 8Jx19 rear. You're going way outside the envelope of the biggest wheels BMW supply by looking at 1" wider wheels front and back. This isn't a trivial difference. Apologies if you've tried these on track etc., but have you any idea how this will effect handling, notwithstanding whether they'll even fit? You may get more straight-line dry traction, but this will be at the cost of wet traction and a noticeable tendency to aquaplane sooner than on 18" stock. And I assume you'll have 17" winters on in the winter, not these? If not, then you're asking for trouble when you consider that many owners go down to 17" for the winter, not up to 19".
As I said, if this is a summer fitment, and you have tried this wheel spec on track etc., then that's your choice. But if it's just a cosmetic thing I'd say that it's an extreme spec' even for a warm summer, 'fair weather' 2nd. car. Take a look at the BMW Wheel & Tyre Configurator and you'll get an idea of the typical 19" on offer from BMW: https://www.bmw.com/en/topics/offers...FuZz1FTiN0b3A= Unfortunately, this is the UK page - I can't access the Canadian pages so you'll have to navigate to your specific region of the BMW site, but it gives an idea. You'll need to enter your model etc. and then select the 'Summer Complete Wheels' menu item. For each set, you can click on 'Details' to see the wheels and tyre sizes and tyres. Finally, the tyre sizes you mention don't seem consistent: you've got the same size front tyres (225/35-19) on wheels which are 1" wider than the BMW wheel carrying the same size tyre. Again, apologies if this is something you have researched and are OK with, but it seems odd.

I'd say 265 would be fine with stock suspension |

I am running 19x9.5 et45 and there is the slightest bit of poke. At et40 it would be a bit further out. Stock suspension MIGHT be ok, but if you compressed enough it will definitely rub.

Any photos? I'm trying to jump on a nice set of 19x9.5 et35 but the 35 might be a bit much.

Take a look at this post from one of our customers. The rear fitment here is a 19x9.5 ET45 with a 255/30/19 tire (Michelin Pilot Sport 4S). Now, imagine adding a 5mm spacer and a wider, slightly taller tire. It won't be a direct bolt on fitment without rubbing.
