Random gaffa tape on rear int light?!
I went to see and buy a 66 plate 335d yesterday.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...d=Nearly%20New It was as clean as you could expect for age/mileage, service due at equivalent of 17,700 miles, so hopefully not a ragged or abused. Swirls in line with a few washes but not much concern for two bucket method. Tyres and brakes all ok. Drove fine. Ok price and had leccy seats (yay!) So well worth buying at the price I think. BUT, one random thing. On the rear interior light (centre of roof), there was black gaffa tape covering it entirely. I'm struggling to understand why it was there. Surely this can be turned off in iDrive settings? Or maybe a button is broken and it's stuck on? Or the owner just couldn't figure out how to turn it off so disabled it the old fashioned way. The salesman took it off and it seemed fine. Just bizzare. In the end the car was as you'd expect so it didn't put me off. But it's left me wondering haha! Any owners care to speculate why it'd been done? I'm entirely unfamiliar with modern BMWs and how all those things work. Dave |

Did it have active cruise control? If so then the tape could be to counteract the famous interior light problem:

Hmmm interesting.
I'm surprised it can't just be turned off in iDrive settings somewhere if that is what you'd wish to do. Worst case I'll be buying a roll of tape too haha |
