Recallpocalypse

It seems nobody is really talking about the big recall yet on the forums, at least not on Bimmerpost front page or X3 forums.

It doesn’t really bother me, I’ve been through more than my share of recalls from VW to Toyota, some seemingly more serious, but anyone know if it affects G01 or just the previous gen?

Ok, found another article that indicates G01 is clear, at least this time

http://autoweek.com/article/recalls/...llion-vehicles

“740,000 vehicles from the 1-, 3- and 5-Series lineup, along with the Z4 and X3 and X5, all from model years 2007-11, involves a rusty crankcase ventilation valve.

The second problem affects 2006-2011 3-Series cars, about 673,000 vehicles, and involves heating and air-conditioning wiring that could overheat, which could cause a fire.“

Pretty typical for the BMW forum members to overlook the brand’s flaws and mistakes, yet rip other manufacturers for similiar situations.

These don't sound like major problems to me and don't involve current models.

Yes, I understand. I heard it on the news three times before I found a source stating the years affected. I would have figured at least that the main bimmerpost page would mention it and some details. Or owners who know they’re affected might talk about it.

When you just hear it affects X3s, check all the X3 forums, and see no info you just post it somewhere to see who has info.

It is rippling through for sure. I'm mainly in the UK F30 section and a guy had posted in there.

It's a biggie for sure.

agree -- this should be moved to the appropriate forum -- has no reason to be here

Ok guys, I get it. I don't think it belongs in any forum, other than perhaps "answered questions", wherever that is. Apparently people are getting annoyed that I asked which X3 years it affected back when the recall news was fresh. I'll be sure to refrain from asking if something affects G01 in the G01 forum from now on, and hopefully nobody else has the same question.

Anyone know how to delete a thread? I'll hunt around.
