Remus Power Soud. . is it CA SAE J1169 certified?

Anybody know if the Remus Powersound is California safe?

"SAE J1169 Measurement of Light Vehicle Exhaust Sound Level under Stationary Conditions". California and various other states now have legislation that makes exceeding this limit an offense, resulting in a "fix it" ticket and required testing certification.

The test involves positioning a type 1, SIA compliant ANSI S1.4 - 1983 noise level meter, specifically as illustrated in the diagram to the left. Positioning is relevant, the tests are extremely specific in their scope and must be conducted under controlled conditions."

It must meet the SAE J1169 sound test for 95dB noise limits to be legal in the many states that use this test as their reference.

I've read that the UUC RSC335 and TSE3 are, how about Remus?

Thanks

I dont know for sure.

But remus does manufacture the stock exaust for many BMW's and Porsche's.

So, I am pertty sure that everything about a Remus would be legit and pass state emissions.

This is just a thought tho, i do not know for sure

Do you think this is enough proof that it is safe in Cali?

I would hope this claim holds up in court in case of a fix it ticket.

Q: What is the sound in decibels?

A: The sound varies from system to system of course. Each sound is custom tailed to the vehicle and the vehicle market. Overall though the decibel level is below legal requirements and therefore it is legal in all states in the USA.

I have the Remus Powersound on my 330 and I also live in CA, and I can assure you 1000% that you don't need to worry about any fix it tickets.

It's a VERY quiet exhaust and maybe just 5% louder than stock. If you don't believe me, PM "pacman" and he will tell you the same (he also has it on his 325). Considering it is just barely louder than stock, I was actually a bit disappointed on my purchase. I would get an RE-IKON if I were you or just do the muffler delete if you want a deeper sound.
