when will i be able to order a 2009

ok, finding a low optioned manual tranny model is next to impossible on the lot. I want to get the car as early in the model year as possible to help on resale.

So i want to order the 2009 model as early as I possibly can.

What is the expectation when the 2009 order sheets are available

Sometime mid to late July. You might not have all the pricing then but should be able to reserver a production slot. You should be able to get a 1st or 2nd week production date and have your car at the dealer for pick up at the beginning of October or maybe last week of Sept.

My dealer told me they would be taking 2009 orders around June/July.

EK, so you will be able to reserve a production slot, but I assume that the options lists won't be available at that time. Is there still enough time to fully option the car and get in on the first round of deliveries, or do you basically have to go off of last year's list?

End of June or beginning of July is typical for taking new model year coupe orders. The car should arrive state side sometime in late September or early October. You can put in an order and use todays prices for a general negotiation so that if the car's price stays relatively the same it'll be easy hammering out the final few hundred dollars diff. Keep your fingers crossed though, many think BMW is going to raise their prices for '09 models because of the weak $.
