woolite is for interior. Just letting you know. And 170 for a polish is a little high, but im comparing to prices in LA where we have everything for cars in vast abundance.

Cool....I have noticed that there arent many people in Houston that do details in comparison to other parts of the country. Unfortunately, as I told you, until December I will only be coming to Houston every few weeks. When you get a chance give me a call, and I will answer any questions you have. I am curious about this $170 polish, i.e. what polish they use, buffer etc......

FWIW, $170 sounds reasonable to me. To find a good local detailer, you might want to ask at autopia.org.

Before you go with any polish I would try your wax of choice applied with a foam pad and a random oscillating wax buffer. I happen to use Meguiars NXT and previously used Zymol. I have found that this combination of pad and these waxes keeps my car swirl free. If this approach doesn't work then you can shoot for something slightly abrasive to polish it out.

Really??

I got NXT 2.0, i heard/read that it lasts longer than the first gen. NXT. Also sealants are suppose to last longer than wax right??

sealants do last longer but they don't produce a cool wax shine!

They are but NXT and NXT 2.0 are some of the shortest lasting sealants I've used. Collinite costs less and has great durability.

170 might have just been a single step polish. If you have very light swirling this might take care of it but if there are more swirls than one step isn't going to cut it. Do you have a picture you could post?

Sealants will last longer than wax yes. They do produce a cool wax shine, you just have to use the right ones. Ultima products leave a very shiny, reflective, and slick surface. Zaino is a sealant, lots of people love the way it looks.

New modern sealants have come a long way I've used quite a few and my favorites are Menzerna FMJ & Jetseal 109. They both have a very high gloss
shine to them and adding a good wax just makes the shine a little deeper.

Evaluating a quote for a detail is like evaluating a quote for a garage; without details it's impossible. Where are you? What will they be doing exactly? How is the condition of your car. FWIW, $170 is not a lot of money for a good detail no matter where you are.

Actually it's the foam applicator pad and not the wax that gets the swirls out. If they are minor swirls it will buff them out while you apply your choice of wax. If they are major swirls then this method won't work.

What? No, the foam app will not do anything unless you have some super arm that moves as fast as a DA or Rotary. To get out swirls you need a polish at least and a machine. It will take you forever to get out swirls by hand if you can at all. You are right about the wax not doing it but its not the foam app and your hand getting them out either.

Thanks for all the replies guys...Where can i get the foam applicator pad that may work because they are pretty minor swirls just a lot of them and I have used the NXT 2.0 and notice that my car gets dirty quicker? My car is monaco blue so it is dark and its hard to keep clean...I'm going to clay bar the car soon and start with a fresh slate, I've mainly just been washing it and waxed it once with some quick detailing wax in between..Thanks for any help guys

Wax will not remove swirls, if anything it it may hide them slightly temporarly. You need to polish to remove swirls. As for your car getting dirtier quicker, it's because by waxing you build up a static charge when rubbing the microfiber towels and foam applicators against the paint. Order some Optimum Instant Detailer or FK-425 to use right after you wax. This won't prevent dust from settling, however they are anti-static so extra dust won't be attracted to the finish.

to get swirls out you really need to polish not "wax"...also NXT isnt a wax....its a sealant that has fillers in it....so like i said before...it is simply filling in the "minor" swirls. I have used NXT before NOT with a foam app. but with a microfiber app which is very soft and shouldnt get the swirls out according you your "theory" but the wax still filled in some of the "minor" swirls...you make no sense
