No fabric softener. Warm water is OK. Plain detergent is best. I bought some "microfiber detergent" from ChemicalGuys but I suspect my usual Persil would work just fine.

And don't forget to wash the towels in hot water.

When you wash your MF towels do not wash it in the washer and dryer that you use your own clothing in! Make sure you take it to a laundry place and just pay the 25 cents or so and wait the time there reading a magazine. I never wash my MF towels in my own washer or dryer...

I do not know if it true but I have been told to not wash them in the washer and dryer due to possible outcomes like the one you stated. I mean you are washing towels with wax, polish, autowash soap etc... there can be some residue left over in your washer. however, i reccommend if you do, to re run ur washer with HOT water and a detergent.

I did it once, and there were some residue left in the washer, was lucky i saw it. I just wiped off the residue with a rag, and then rerun the washer again.
