New 420D Sport

All,

Just about to trade in the wife's Scirocco for a 420D Msport coupe.

Snapper Rocks Blue, Msport+ pack, Auto.

We do about 10k per year ferrying our kids about for their sport and its me who does all the driving, and going from my 535d to the Scirocco is too frustrating a drop, and I've now gotten to lazy to be bothered driving a manual car with no cruise control......

Got what we feel is a good deal on the 0% finance, and the dealer has exceeded the discount others offered, along with getting us an extra £1300 px value for the Scirocco...... Dealers in Scotland seem to get away with a lot more than they do in England, this is the 4th car I have travelled south to buy.

Anything anyone can point out that we need to be aware of with the 4 series.

its been a bit fast/impulsive, but is a pretty big upgrade for what is a 2nd car so hopefully it will be fine.

Thanks.

Is it worth getting a oil burner doing only 10k per annum? Sounds like a nice car! I really like SRB think it suites the 4 series really well.

We are both kind of used to driving diesels now, and having had a previous scirocco that had the Golf GTI engine in it, I prefer getting 500 miles from a tank of fuel instead of 300.

Haven't really looked at the overall ownership costs etc in small detail tbh.

With better dealer contributions, better residuals and a lot more as standard on the larger engines, 430/435 prices wasn't far off when I bought.

Make sure you check the brochure, I moved from a 420d Sport pre LCI which had a lot as standard that the LCI 420d doesn't.

Luckily I managed to get a 435d with everything I wanted.

It was a 420d that made my mind up I wanted a 4 series. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It is an auto?

Obviously lots of 6 pot fans on here but I was very surprised at how strong the 2.0D engine was when I test drove it.

You mention kids - are you getting the Gran Coupe? We have it and it's very practical.

Can't comment so far on things to watch out for, but if you have a family I guess consider practical options like comfort access, extended storage, privacy glass etc.

Nah, 2 door coupe. Kids are agile, it won't kill them climbing in......

Will have privacy glass. Basically bought from the dealers stock to get the 0% finance.

The stock car has more in it than we initially wanted tbh as I wasn't bothered with getting the Msport + pack.

It is an auto, which was a must for me, but not for the wife.

Looking forward to it, and the fact that it will take at least 10k miles a year off my car.

Good choice going for the auto.

Sorry reread you post and realised you said M-Sport!

I had a 420d, it's a great car, nippy when it wants to be, can also get 45mpg on a school and work run in crappy Bristol traffic!

You won't regret having the M-Sport plus, didnt have it in my last 2, don't think I'd choose a car without it now!

Enjoy the car bud!

Reason I wasn't fussed for it was its a 2nd car and the Wife doesn't care about stuff like that. Its a must for my car, less so for hers. I just see it as more expensive tyres and brakes....
