I finally picked up my 540i at the weekend. It was ordered back in June and I had to wait due to the apparent petrol engine shortage. At some point if I get a chance I will post some better pics. Lots of options ticked but the main ones are below.

My old F31 335d was picked up yesterday and I was sad to see it go however the new 5 series is in a different league when it comes to comfort and refinement. I've not had a chance to unleash its power yet as I've only done 100 miles but it's certainly no slouch. The power delivery is different to the oil burner but it certainly has more torque low down than I thought it would. What has impressed me most about the car so far is the Adaptive drive, it makes the car handle so much better than my 335d. There's no roll and the car doesn't become unsettled like the 335d on standard springs did when you are pushing hard. It gives you so much more confidence when cornering and on uneven surfaces yet around town it's soaking up potholes so you hardly notice them and this is with 20" wheels and runflats. Next up will be the MSPPK when it's released for the G31 in the UK in December as it could do with being a little louder (I've moved from having diesels in the last couple of cars to a petrol inline 6 and I'll like to hear it) and a little more power can't help. I'll update this with any further thoughts as I get more of a chance to use the car.

Very nice indeed! I have been playing with the configurator with one of these. We will see how the new 3er touring is but in 16months time these should be more open to deals as well.

I do like the look of yours.......

I see yours came with the correct steering wheel.

I too am waiting for the MSPPK once it's out for the G31

It was about 19% which seemed to be as good as the comparison sites at the time. I'd recommend the upgrade from a 3 series, it's a whole other level quality in the car.

Yes, I didn't notice until I got home.....not the normally first thing to spring to mind when your checking everything else is correct.
