USB port at RVM?

Anyone know how hard it might be to put a usb port on or around the rearview mirror just for power?

I got a dashcam and it made me think that the best way to mount anything up by the rearview mirror would be to wire in a USB port, just for charging. You then could mount pretty much anything that runs off of USB power, regardless of the cable type since you'd just need swap a 5 inch or so cable depending on the end needed.

I think you're better off using USB in the glovebox. It's a 5 minute job to run a cable down there. Hell you could run a female to male cable and get your outlet at the top of the windshield that way if you really wanted to have options.

Problem is that USB is 5V while car power is 12V. You need a converter of some sort to get from whatever you might be able to source by the mirror down to 5V. Converters are pretty small, but they're not tiny.
