Problem with the AUX socket on 228i
I have no tech package on my 228i, so no music from my phone via bluetooth. I tried connecting my phone via the AUX cable, that didn't work and I thought it was because of the cable issues. Then I bought the bluetooth music transmitter which also has to connect to the AUX socket, and it is the same problem. I realized that it worked (kind of) only when I pushed and rammed the AUX jack into the socked with force, but as soon as I release, it disconnects again. Has anyone had the same issue? Should I request the AUX unit replacement at my next service?

Do a site search - I think that when I was originally shopping mine (c. late 2015) I saw s/t on here about a recall (or dealer fix) for some of these coming loose (or perhaps they swapped in some 3-series parts that were not quite the right fit?). IIRC, dealers were fixing/replacing.

I don't have the technology package either, but I'm able to stream via bluetooth a radio app from my iphone to the car's stereo. No problem. I actually wasn't aware that this was possible until this past summer. I played around with some of the bluetooth settings in the idrive and next thing I know it started working. I'll also add that since I was able to accomplish bluetooth streaming, I was also able to connect via the AUX connection. I doubt there's anything wrong with yours.
