Dinan midpipe for f23 convertible.

Just took delivery of my 2017 M240i convertible a week ago and wanted to install the Dinan midpipe however they don’t list an option for the convertible. Does anyone know if the one for the coupe will fit and if not is Dinan planning on doing a model for the f23? If not are there any other options that will delete those resonators on the convertible. I don’t want To just hack the car up and cut them out. I would prefer an actual pipe that’s made for the car like the Dinan. Any help on this would be appreciated.

WOW not one response...
I purchased a 2018 M240i convertible in late October this year after going back and forth between the BMW and a C7 Vette with Z51/LT2 package for a month. Even after making the decision to pull the trigger on the BMW almost 90 days ago I still find found myself "second guessing" the purchase since I still can't get that V8 sound of the Vette out of my head, especially since my neighbor across the street just purchased one.

I was hoping that upgrading the exhaust on the F23 would make the sound more enjoyable. However, after talking to the nearest BMW dealer with a decent (aka knowledgeable) service department (The selling dealer was a joke, that is another story...) and a member of the local BMWCCA who owns a 2017 F22, it appears our options current are VERY limited.

Yes there is the low cost front / back resonator removal but its not an option for me, the service manager (SM) mentioned this path also while discussing exhaust options, he was quite clear that any CEL's post resonator hack would require a reversal before any warranty work would be performed. I only have two BMW dealerships within a 90 mile radius so the "go to another BMW dealership" does not apply for me.

From what I was told by the SM, Dinan is not planning on doing a model for the F23 anytime soon, the F23 has additional bracing which is why the F22 pipe does not fit. The SM also mentioned that if Dinain did come up with a pipe, the dealer would not carry / install it for some time so there goes the dealer installed option to save waranty.

The only option is the MPE, installed by dealer with the CF tips comes to almost $2000, that's a lot of scratch just to get more noise.

Talk to Sun Motors. They can get you that exhaust for much less and any decent muffler shop can install it. BMW of Morristown NJ is also another option.

I installed the Dinan exhaust and am really happy with it. They currently have a sale going on. My dealer met the Dinan price.

Yes I have heard excellent reviews, even the service manager at my local dealership who is also an authorized Dinan dealer, said the Dinan system (SKU: D660-0067) is a better option over the MPE except for one pesky detail.... its only available for the F22, they will not install this on an F23, so for a noise upgrade the MPE looks like the only option for me.

One item he did mention that I am now beginning to consider... instead of wasting almost $2,000 on a noise upgrade, spend only $1,500 and get an upgrade that you can feel, opt for the DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner Stage 1.

+1 vote for this option. And if you have an exhaust shop you can trust, get the resonators deleted for <$500. Then, you get both for <$2K.

I am definitely going with the "feel versus sound" mod in 2018 but will have to wait till the IRS refund, it's been a costly 2017 helping the step daughter move out (finally).

You may have missed what I said in an earlier post, the resonator remove is not an option for me:

Does not fit and Dinan is not going to make one, I spoke with them about it at length. Axel back is easy so pick whichever you want there.

For a resonator delete you need to have your shop do a one-off expect $500 or so.

Interesting.... my Service Manager says the Dinan Free Flow Stainless Exhaust (SKU: D660-0067-BLK) is not an option, or more specifically they will not install it due to the vendor SKU number lists only the F22.

That I'd suggest you call Dinan and ask them. For the 235 I know for a fact the resonator delete will NOT work, and the axle back exhaust WILL work. Not 100% sure on post-LCI but if you ring them up they should be able to help.

Already called them, service manager called also (the dealership is an authorized Dinan dealer). They were asked if it fits the 2018 F23, then why the SKU only lists F22.... they had no real answer.

I called a second time and got a completely different answer, not the "it will fit" but a "probably should fit" response. Whatever the case, the BMW dealership which services my car will not install it unless the BMW model is tied to the vendors SKU# and the other BMW dealership, where I purchased the car is not an option, not a Dinan dealer.
