Wheel splatter

Need advice on tire splatter on side skirts and rear fenders. Stock wheels and suspension. Would reducing the wheel gap possibly keep the splatter in the wheel well? Anyone have any solutions for this besides washing car multiple times per week or keeping microfiber and quick detailer in trunk?

TLDR: how to deal with wheel splatter?

When you turn the car's wheels right or left, one of the tires moves outside the lower part of the wheel well due to the body "tapering" inward at the rocker panel level. If you're driving through mud, sand, dirt, or what-have-you, it's going to get splattered on the rocker area just behind the wheel well. At the rear of the car, it's mainly just the body taper that causes the area behind the rear wheels to get dirty. The only REAL solution is splash guards (essentially, mud flaps) applied to the rear edges of each wheel opening. Pretty sure you can buy these made especially for your car as well as "generic" types. Otherwise, it's either a "car duster" or detail fluid and a soft cloth - or a wash job in extreme cases.

Unfortunately BMW has never produced custom mud guards for our 2 Series vehicles.

Did I say they had to be OEM? Most splash guards/mud flaps are aftermarket in my experience. Some will be custom-fit, some will not, depending on the brand.

I thought I saw somebody mentioning that those aftermarket skirt add-ons helped some with this, widening out the lower sill somewhat. But I think that it is something you just have to live with, since even the splash guards are an imperfect solution. I'd suggest practicing your relaxation techniques for the day-to-day, and fully washing it often - those detail sprays are OK, but this is going to be the very most gritty crud, and I don't fully trust the detail spray and a gentle wipe to not leave scratches.
