Best is PS2, next is SO3's(I like SO2's better), then on down. What's best for your budget may be different, I know it is for me. What's best for the dollar is F1's, at least I think so. This will be my second set.

Hi Danny,

Just out of curiosity, what makes you say the PS2's and SO3's are better? On TireRack it would seem that the reverse is true. I'm not questioning your response, just curious to know the logic/thought behind it. As you know, I'm about to buy new tires, and I was wondering if I should go for the PS2's over the F1's.

Thanks,
Matt.

Matt,

PS2 is a better dry tire then the F1. But not $80-$100 a piece better unless you have 300+ days of sun each yr. and that's your only concern. The F1 is a better wet tire then the PS2. The F1 is the best overall max performance tire for the money. I looked seriously at the PS2's before I bought my F1's. I just couldn't justify the extra $400 for the PS2's.

What do you think of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx? It just took the #1 spot from the F1's on TireRack's site.

Also, what about the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S?

Matt.

Matt, I've never owned the PS' or the SO's. My friends have and I have tracked on them. The PS' and the SO's have a higher breakaway point than the F1's. The dry grip is slightly better. But like matsarge was saying, not that much better, at least for my wallet!

I spoke with the mgr. of the Goodyear shop in town about 2 weeks ago when I was in the last stages of buying tires and he doesn't like the Sport Maxx and he sells them (Dunlop's) along with Goodyear. He thinks they're overrated and that if you're looking at Dunlop then the 9000's are a better tire then the Sport Maxx but that the F1's are better than both of them. It was after talking to him that I completely decided to buy the F1's. As far as the Pirelli's go I really haven't heard much about them to comment one way or the other.
