Blue Spark v DTUK 3 Channel Box with rolling road graphs
Decided to sell the Blue Spark box and was going to get a remap then at the last minute saw that DTUK do a three channel box.
Spoke with Andrew from DTUK and got a good price of £359 delivered. Fitting was exactly the same as the BS box but with the addition of a connection to the cam sensor for monitoring the cars RPM The connectors are slightly better than the BS box and are more like the original factory connectors. The unit itself is a lot more solid and professional and feels very much improved. A huge improvement over the BS box is the ability to change settings without having to disconnect, wait 5 mins, open the box etc etc. You simply press the buttons to select the setting you want with the engine running. The hardest part is getting out of the car and opening the bonnet! So how does the car drive..... The car performs stronger across the whole rev range, where as the BS delivered a lot of torque straight away the DTUK box delivers continuously it feels stronger. Maybe less torque lower down but only slightly less, Comfort mode also feels a lot stronger than the BS box before it felt a little dull compared to Sport but now it feels alive and Sport feels stronger still. In summary the third connection seems to make for a better driving experience and the quality of everything is improved. I feel as though this is as good as you will get without going for a full remap. The BS box made 300BHP and 650 Nm so we will see at the rolling road day what this makes. I would guess at more BHP but maybe slightly less torque so 310 BHP and 630Nm. There is nothing wrong with the BS box and for £250 it's a fair price and does a good job but spend 50% more and you have another option. Last edited by JLR1969; 09-11-2017 at 05:35 AM.. |

I would say it's no worse if you drive carefully maybe even better but I am not convinced, if you drive hard you use more fuel. To be concerned about MPG is really missing the point as the overall effect is a transformation in the performance and a car that performs more like a 35D If I sit on the motorway at 70mph it will easily achieve over 50mpg Having had a box on the car I would have no hesitation in doing it again. |

My biggest problem now is whether to just keep the box or get a remap once I'm out of warranty, my head is saying to keep the box. I honestly don't keep an eye on the MPG whatsoever, I just enjoy the increased performance. |

Are you sure it's 3 channel. Thought they only did a dual channel?
My bad....they do a tri-channel for the 30d

Interesting write-up. Sounds like a much better engineered/resolved solution than the BlueSpark.

Just ordered the tri-channel for my 320d. Also got it for £359 delivered.
I've had one of their boxes on an Audi A3 in the past and it was a decent upgrade.

I'm running a tri channel on my F31 330d and I would vouch for it, I've had no issues at all and felt an instance change in performance from the moment it was fitted.
Which settings are you running? When you get your dyno runs, will you be experimenting with the different settings? I was on + and +3 but now I'm trying P +3 and both felt good, the latter seems to work better for comfort but the former I assume gives the most overall gains

That makes sense, I am currently running the same. I might go back to P3 map 3. Apparently some cars don't agree with this settings and it can throw an engine light (you would notice this immediately) but no issues with me on that map.
