Remap recommendations - Scotland
Morning Folks,
Apologies in advance for yet another remapping thread! Having decided to buy my car out of its PCP deal, I'm going to go down the remap route and am looking for recommendations in Scotland. My options seem to be limited to the following: 1. Ecotune - there seems to be a lot of love from 330d owners on the F3x facebook page, but there have been a few worrying posts on here from 35d owners saying the Ecotune maps have been responsible for mechanical failure. 2. Celtic Tuning - they quote pretty high gains, which are perhaps slightly unrealistic, but they do offer a 12 month mechanical breakdown warranty to cover any issues that result from the use of their software. Is this worth the paper it's written on? 3. Angel Tuning - again they quote fairly fanciful gains, but I remember them having a good rep in the Vauxhall forums from my time with the Astra VXR. There's a wealth of info on this forum regarding tuning, but just wondered whether anyone (preferably with a 30d) had used any of the above with any success or could recommend another in central Scotland? Cheers

There's been 3 guys with issues in the past on here with ecotune all with the same issues, in a nutshell their reluctance/arrogance to admit that their is an issue with their map wasted me lot of time and money and I wouldn't take a skateboard to them! - good luck getting a refund they are nice as pie getting money off you but once you get an issue. They're tried to alter the power of the map to be fair (fueling thus smoke) but this was a red herring and already too late, the car failed to regen which resulted in smoke/clogged filter. I took it a proper place and they confirmed things had been played with and they were 'really' pushing the car to the max!, 10 month on and zeros issues and car regenerates with more-bhp.
Avoid places that offer silly power increases and torque, you want a nice combination of both power and torque curve. Morebhp for me, few folk have used them on here. Honest no bullshit, proper custom map how 'you' want it. |

Falkland in Glenrothes do the Superchips remaps .... I'm running one on my 320d and have had no problems (54k miles over 2 years) & very reasonable price too ... I've got a 335d coming in a few weeks which I'm going to get mapped by them.

i can never understand why anyone would want to do this to any road going production car,the manufacturer has done all the mapping it could ever need, youll just use more fuel and shorten the life of it

Thanks for the other replies folks. I've heard nothing but good things about MoreBHP. Sadly closest dealer (big fish tuning) is a 300 mile round trip. |

What about the MPPK for the 30d and 40i? Clearly there is headroom in these engines, but agree you're placing more stress on the components. No one uses all of the power all of the time though, but it's nice to know it's there

bmw will know what is spare and will have it done so it survives, that would be the one to go for, but more to be gained everywhere from a decent set of tyres first though
