Upgrade OEM headlights projectors with Morimoto

Hey guys,

Please be nice

I tried to find my answer over the forum but couldn't really get any.

Would it be possible to swap the OEM projectors of my e93 xenon headlights with the one from morimoto?

I saw a lot of mod/retrofit from halogen to hid but none from oem hid to aftermarket hid. We all know that the OEM projectors are really bad right?

What about the self leveling feature?
What about the D1S to D2S conversion? (D1S are really weak compared to D2S)
I guess I need a canbus kit too, but how to connect it to replace the oem one without errors? (Coding is not a problem, I can do it)

FX-R are too big, mini D2s 4.0 would fit?

a loooot of questions

Thankssss to all of you!

You have to deal the the AFS cage. Trimming is required.

How do you mean D1s are really weak? IMHO they just designed differently, bulb probably the same?

I think D1s are a bit weaker compared to D2s.
I have no proof at all but standing next to a new gen Audi, Merc, Lexus running d2s bulb 35w, mine are so fade...

Looks like I have regular filament bulbs...

And for info I had brand new OE Philips X-trem vision before switching to OE CBI.

I will not even talk about comparison with LED headlamps...

I think design of the headlamps itself is the main cause of the poor performance.

D1S has the igniter integrated into the bulb, D2S the igniter is either in the ballast or in the cable between the ballast and the bulb.
