EGR Delete

Hi All

Looking to delete my egr and remove egr cooler also. If i were to remove this prior to having it coded out, will this still run ok bar the engine light? Will it put it into limp mode?

Thanks

I believe U.K. Cars can run with the egr valve un plugged without going into limp mode. Us cars cannot be unplugged and removed without being coded.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you can just leave the EGR plugged in and zip tie it to the side

Correct. You just have to block off the EGR cooler at the exhaust side, and I'd recommend blocking it on the intake side as well to keep any foreign debris out. Then pull the valve, tuck it off to the side, and install a race pipe. Electronically everything is operating properly, and the car will be happy.

My 2 cents. The faux EGR (i.e. race pipe ) is a simple and direct solution. I would just go ahead and delete the EGR cooler while you are there and use Andrew's block off flange. Do as torque advises and keep real EGR plugged in but secured off to side. Whitbread makes little plugs that fit into the black plastic hoses that are connected to the cooler. You need to cork those up. Likewise, as dbman says, many DPFs laying on our parts shelves or just have yours gutted. I bought a spare from a forum member and gutted it. Welder charged me $70 to reseal it up. Make sure to cut the metal little tubes off the DPF and have welder seal those off. Once you have gutted, there is no need for them and the hoses that connect to them can come off. One guy had to buy a $300 harness after one of his hoses came off and hot gases burnt up that harness. Very cheap insurance. Good luck with getting it running more smoothly.
