Warped Bumper
I have clear bra protection on the rear bumper luggage area. A couple days ago, i found that there's an area where some of the clear bra is crumbled up. Initially, I thought that was a bad clear bra job. But after I looked closer, I noticed that the rear bumper is warped and the trunk lid is actually hitting the top of the bumper that caused the damage to the clear bra. This looks like a manufacturer defect.
I will bring my car in for the first 1,200 mile service in the next few days. I will have them get this fixed. My question is... is this going to be an easy fix? All they have to do is remove and reinstall the bumper and align everything? Or I need a new bumper? A new bumper would be a major PITA Has this happened to any of you? Any inputs will be welcome. Thanks!! |

I also believe someone might of bumped your car.
I would try adjusting the bumper. Remove some of the clips and readjust.

Thanks guys. I actually thought about that, but I couldn't find anything besides that spot. So I ruled it out. I will try to remove and reinstall bumper and see.

I think that makes the most sense.. If somebody hit the car, youd definitely seem some kind of evidence of the impact.

I think cars these days have to sustain no visible damage if hit at 5 mph or something. I forgot what the exact regulation is. Or if it is even a reg.

Does that include no paint damage either? Maybe with bumpers its different, but if I park next to a car, and he opens his door so that it even mildly contacts mine, It will usually leave a mark that can be discerned in good light. Im phobic about checking both sides of my car before I get in when parked next to somebody. The fact that bumpers 'give' will definitely help, but I would think if it were contacted hard enough to cause deformation, a telltale mark would be left..

Possible it was hit after the clear bra install, and it just didnt leave a mark. or it was hit before the bra install and the bra hides it or it was fixed. Either way, it was hit.

I'm pretty sure the clear bra installer didn't remove the bumper. We're talking about just a small skinny piece of clear bar on top of the bumper... not a full bumper wrap. From everyone's inputs here, it sounds like a hit without leaving a mark... maybe I actually got lucky there

Lucky? Lucky would be paint that could be corrected. I am not sure how or if that can be corrected if the plastic has lost its shape. Good luck either way!

I'm thinking someone didn't actually tap you with any impact, just made contact and pushed it in with enough force to pop a mounting tab or whatever is back there.
